TCA Press Tour: Live blogging the 'Fringe' panel
We're here live blogging the "Fringe" panel at TCA.
2:25 p.m.- Clip reel, but sadly no season two footage.
2:26- Critic wants to know how many dimensions season two will take place in. Executive producer Jeff Pinkner says that there will only be two realities the show delves into.
2:28- Leonard Nimoy (William Bell) has filmed one episode already, and they plan on having him in more.
2:29- "I think we learned how to write for these actors," Jeff says about what they learned from season one.
Co-creator Roberto Orci thinks the show will be a tighter ship this year, due the move to Vancouver. Vancouver is closer to where the writers/producers are.
2:30- "It's possibly the most enjoyable character I've played in my life...and doing it in a series gives [the character] room to grow," John Noble says about Walter.
2:32- The series will take place in our reality for the most part, but what goes on in the alternate reality will impact what we see on our screens.
2:33- Critic asks if Joshua Jackson (Peter) has become more of a smart ass since he started playing this character. Josh warns the other panelists not to say anything, and says it's been difficult to play the character.
2:34- The producers are aiming to make the alternate reality understandable for everyone-- including Jeff's father and producer Bryan Burk's dog.
2:36- Roberto thinks the show will still be able to be stand alone. Josh says it's more rare that they do multi-episode arcs as opposed to stand-alones with myth arc pieces fitted in.
Co-creator Alex Kurtzman reveals that the original plan was to not reveal the alternate universe until the end of season three, but they felt the audience was ready for it in the first season finale.
2:40- The producers are trying to explain the last 30 seconds of the season premiere without spoiling any of us. Jeff says they did it "because it seems awesome." The cast and crew is doing well in talking around what happens without spoiling anything for the journalists who didn't see the episode.
2:44- Anna Torv wanted Olivia to become addicted to using the portal to access her subconscious. Jeff says that they had discussed that, but they wanted Olivia to move forward, not back.
2:45- Critic asks Josh and John about their relationship off-screen. This should be fun, since the two genuinely seem to enjoy each other's company. John says he and Josh talk a lot about the relationship their characters have, which then helps their own relationship. Josh says he wanted to make sure if they took the relationship outside of the show to another type of environment, it would still be authentic.
2:48- Critic wants to know if Alex and Roberto's recent success has made it so they can do anything in Hollywood. "That success was so last quarter," Josh cracks. When a critic asks if they could get their laundry list greenlit as a movie, executive producer J.H. Wyman jokes that "Transformers" was just their laundry list.
2:49- Is the science believable? Josh jokes that because of the show, he is getting a chemistry degree from Devry University.
"I don't know how you could act something unless you find some credibility in it," John says. Josh says that if you don't buy the cast believing the material, then there is no reason to believe the audience will follow along for the ride.
2:53- The panel gets asked about the "X-Files" comparisons, specifically the parallel to Mulder/Scully and Peter/Olivia in terms of romance. "I think we've always said that as long as the emotion is true, we're open to anything," Jeff says.
John says he thinks the two characters are like children who have a connection, but he doesn't necessarily think the relationship should lead to sex.
Josh is the resident "X-Files" fan and jokes that a three way partnership is different than a two way partnership. Being serious, he says that the dynamic on the show is different, so it's a whole new/different situation.
And they end the panel with that.

OMG cant wait to see the new season.. I love the actors roles on this show! nemoy is a wonderful addition to the show!!so glad he joined..cant wait to see whos the "good guy" hum I beleive I heard this on some other show the producers did..lol
I don't care what anyone says, I smell a LOST tie-in. It would be unlikely to see a crossover, but a lot of the unexplainable **** from LOST would be perfectly explained is the other reality's M***IVE DYNAMIC was the company behind everything in LOST. I don't know much about LOST, mind you, but, to me, it seems feasible.
I see Season Two being somewhat similar to the start in Season One where Olivia begins in a brand new outfit, not quite sure about how to view things after what immediately transpires and is thrown into a world of trouble. Her new boss? Nemoy. I don't see this grand battle that the ZFT brought up will be happening until, at the very least, the Season Two finale, if not early into Season Three, if it happens at all. In any case, I'm very excited to see Fringe again and I'm so full of thoughts and theories and want to see if I'm close!
Don't know if it's just me but M***ive Dynamic reminds me of Umbrella Corporation from resident evil.
super
I love the show, the only thing I do not want is to have to wait 8 months for another season :-think LOST !! That ****es me off, one loses interest and the the show seems kind of hap hazard once its back on specially if one dosent recap on whats going on.
