'Star Trek' captain Kate Mulgrew feels 'Mercy'
Kate Mulgrew has set a course for NBC.The former "Star Trek: Voyager" captain has joined the cast of the fall nursing drama "Mercy," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Mulgrew will play Jeannie Flanagan, the mother of lead nurse Veronica (Taylor Schilling).
Mulgrew is best known for playing Captain Kathryn Janeway on "Star Trek: Voyager," which ran for seven seasons.
Other casting news:
- Mido Hamada has landed the recurring role on "24" as Mehran, a leader of a group of operatives in an Islamic country working against their president
- Matthew Levy will play the oldest of three brothers who hires a hustler (Tyler Labine) as their fake father while their real one is in prison on "Sons of Tucson."
- Joshua Leonard will play Ricky, the "boho-trustifarian" in a recurring role for Showtime's "United States of Tara" second season.
