Speak up on 'So You Think You Can Dance''s season 5 winner
Not going to lie. I took a liking to this summer's "So You Think You Can Dance" winner from day one.
I found her lovely -- down-to-earth and genuine -- when we met just before the Top 20 was revealed. I lost my mind when she and Phillip killed that hip hop number the first week. And I noticed the precision and grace with which she moved no matter what routine was thrown her way shortly thereafter.
Jeanine Mason is America's favorite dancer and I'm not arguing.
You?
I know that Brandon was probably favored to win, given his level of skill, but Jeanine is just... there's something special about this girl. And I'm psyched that a lady took the crown since the final five females were the strongest group the show has ever seen.

are you getting all your friends to vote to prove your point that jeanine should have won? you're delusional korbi. read the comments. overwhelmingly people were for brandon.
as for jeanine and phillip hitting that hip hop routine!! OMG no one in the real world thought that. we were laughing. we're not into the cutesy hip hop that's been created so most white folks can feel they get down, and their parents don't feel scared to walk the streets at night and sytycd can sell itself to corporate sponsors. really, this year there was no one who could give the old school busta beat to the moves like joshua and twitch could last year. jeanine and phillip. you make me laugh.
i love sytycd, but like many competitive shows the winner is not always the best. brandon and jeanette were the best this year. jeanine close 2nd to jeanette. judges sway the voters the way they want the results to go. it works. bad review. low voting. bye bye ade. too much kiss kiss. voter revolt. too many bottom 3's and 4th place kayla. they also decide on this show the dances. do you really think we believe randi deserved a paso doble with kupono, or evan a folk dance with jeanine. former were gone but latter pulled it off. oops judges. and let's not forget demographics. can't have too many people of color. uh oh, look at the guys, but evan is cute and cuddly, and white, even if he sucks at most genres. voters vote. and most of all, none of us think the voting is not rigged. nigel made it clear he wanted jeanine. he got jeanine.
another season done. season 6 coming. i like watching the dancing. i love the arts. i've learned to tune out comments as much as possible. it can make you angry and more jaded and cynical in an already ugly world where people try to feed you bs, when dance is so beautiful.
Good god, my head almost exploded try to decipher that nonsense from Renee.
Personally, I was very happy that Jeanine won. She really seems to have "it" in regards to her performance quality, not mention great technique and what looks to be a great personality. She's very likable.
Korbi, since you seem to have some contacts in the SYTYCD world I'd love to see if you could track Jeanine down for an interview or something.
The right person won...though I would have loved to see Janette in the final (instead of Kayla!) I can't compare her to Jeanine because she wasn't there. Jeanine was freakin' amazing though and deserved the win!!!
I love watching SYTYCD! Brandon is an amazing dancer. Kayla, Janette, and Jeanie were beautiful dancers. I would have been happy if any of them won. I voted for Kayla but there was just something about Jeanine's personality that won over America. I think she came on the strongest in the end.
I remember turning to my family about week 4 and saying "I think Jeanine's gonna win this" and I am SO glad she did. By far she was the dancer who had the cutest personality and who had the most variety with her dances.
I am thrilled for the results... and we're lucky enough in Canada to have our own version on now. So no withdrawal for me!
"Good god, my head almost exploded try to decipher that nonsense from Renee."
LOL, M! I've learned to skip over her posts. Since they're usually first that makes it easier.
Jeanine is a fine dancer and she got the most votes. End of story. In the arts there is no way to quantify the single "best". Most of the dancers would have been worthy of the title for various reasons. I think Jeanine was a good dancer at the start and she really blossomed over the course of the show. Perfectly worthy winner.
