Paula Abdul possibly joining 'So You Think You Can Dance' judges panel
The shocking news that Paula Abdul will not be returning to "American Idol" next season is less than 24 hours old, but her next TV offer is already on the table."So You Think You Can Dance" judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe -- a former "Idol" E.P. -- is now saying he will ask Paula to join the "SYTYCD" team.
According to the LATimes.com, Lythgoe will meet with Abdul this weekend in Vegas, where the final audition rounds of the series' fall season are taking place, to discuss the possibilities.
"With Paula's background as a dancer, choreographer and reality judge now, I don't know any one more qualified than Paula Abdul," Lythgoe said.
Whether or not "So You Think You Can Dance" can afford Abdul remains to be seen, however. Her surprising departure from "American Idol" is reportedly a result of soured contract negotiations, having been offered a significantly less lucrative deal than her colleagues Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest.
Cowell is said to be making $36 million a year for his "Idol" services, while Seacrest recently signed a three-year contract worth $45 million.
FOX supposedly proposed a $10 million dollar three-year deal for Abdul.
Can "So You Think You Can Dance' top that?

Eh, we already have Mary's tired "nut job" act; do we really need Paula inane ramblings.
Better she opens a studio somewhere and just fade away.
One can only hope this is true! I would like to see her replace Mary Murphy who has totally ruined the show for a number of people with her incessant shrieking. I would rather watch Paula clapping like a seal anytime.
Wow. So not shocking when you think about it. FOX is putting this show on with back to back cycles - this summer and then next fall as its placeholder for IDOL. So, to keep interest high and hopefully get the ratings to be closer to IDOL than the usually offerings until IDOL comes on, moving Paula helps the DANCE brand and gets people ***ociate FOX and those time slots as more year around viewing, and breeding familiarity which is important to keeping viewers. Bravo FOX.
good idea... but that means the only logical person on there is nigel... and i like having the guest judges theyre cool!
im open to 4 judges because im not sure how paula would do and i cant stand mary. shes either too technical or technically insane.

I think IDOL will be suprised when they lose millions of viewers. Kara is no Paula Abdul.
I hope if she does join, she and Mary Murphy switch weeks - I can only take so much crazy! But then again, I usually fast forward the judges. It seems to me they are playing to the camera at a whole new level this season, trying to one up each other on the "clever" comments.

ummmmmmm.. and the difference would be what? As opposed to having paula abdul on FOX in the Winter-Summer.. you would have her Summer-Winter.. Nice call ... umm NOT!! Plus I don't think there can be room on SYTYCD for 2 "nutty-but-nice" judges..
