'So You Think You Can Dance': Mia Michaels still not a Brandon Bryant fan
During Vegas week for this season of "So You Think You Can Dance," viewers were a bit perplexed at how much of a dislike choreographer and judge Mia Michaels took to Brandon Bryant, who is now one of the Final Four.
On Thursday, Mia took a moment to explain why she took the tone with him that she did. After all, we didn't see him kick any puppies.
"I was tough on him because of my own interaction with him in Vegas," she says. It was a little bit of the not-so-professional work quality about him that kind of pissed me off, and because he is so good, I come down harder on dancers that are so good but aren't working at their potential.
"So I was harsh. I admit I was emotional about it, but I don't regret it, and I am proud of him, and I'm proud that he has gone this far. You know, I hope he keeps learning. I hope he stays open."
Adam Shankman interjects at this point, "There was some stuff that was obviously personally pissing you off about him, but I don't think that you ever thought he was a bad dancer."
"No, no, no. He's not bad," Mia replies. "He's amazing. He's like a superhero dancer. He's one big muscle, you know.
"My biggest thing about dancers: I would rather work with a dancer that is less talented but has the most amazing work ethic and heart and soul than someone that is brilliant and knows that they are."
So,while Mia may have softened where Brandon's concerned, but she hasn't been completely converted.
"I'm not a hundred percent fan," she says.

I don't by it. One doesn't get as good as Brandon without a superior work ethic. Being a "natural" only takes one so far. I suspect there is more to it than what's presented.
That is the thing, they can't show everything on the Vegas episode and so Mia and Brandon clearly had a previous run in that led to her being harsh with him.

Thanks for the TCA updates. Will you be posting video interviews this year?
Hey thats really gud to see.
If you go to Dance Empire's homepage, you'll see that Brandon received a dance scholarship from Mia. Think they knew each other way back. I think Mia has an attitude herself - to attack someone's personality like that in public. We've not heard Brandon's side of the story so it's still one-sided as of now. Anyhow, to hear someone who is not a fan of Brandon's admit that he is a talent is really heartening.
It is clearly unprofessional of Mia, Brandon is an excellent dancer. When one feels threaten by anothers talant in the dancing industry they will take a cheap shot at great talant such as Brandon's. Keep dancing Brandon with your head high!
What's wrong with this sentence? "So,while Mia may of softened where Brandon's concerned, but she hasn't been completely converted."
It cannot possibly be a direct quote.
That is the reporter's opinion. Mia's quotes are all in "".
what you missed was mia admitting that brandon's teacher was her pupil. she knows brandon's work ethic. and yes, you can get that good and not put all the work in. brandon could and will be better. he's still young and what is missing is emotional depth for sure, and at times his technique is not brilliant. it's just amazing. joshua, travis, danny, will would dance circles around him.
