'Scrubs' casts Dave Franco as the first of its new series regulars

Davidfranco Sacred Heart University -- that's what we've dubbed it for now -- has just accepted a first year med student.

Sources tell me Dave Franco has been cast as a "Scrubs" series regular, the first of three new actors to join the show later this year.

You may recognize Franco from "Privileged" on which he played Rose (Lucy Hale)'s boyfriend Zach. Or, perhaps, you see the resemblance between him and his big brother, James Franco ("Spider Man," "Pineapple Express," "Milk").

Either way, if you're a "Scrubs" fan, you'll get to know Dave later this year when he takes on the role of "Cole," a 22-year-old medical student, who might rub people the wrong way. I'm hearing he's a crazy entitled, rich kid whose family has no problem using their money to give him an edge.

As you can imagine, Dr. Cox will be a huge fan of his. Or just hate him with a nasty vengeance... which I very much look forward to seeing.

You?

Now I have a Scrubs question, is there going to be a reasonable explanation as to why Perry would get the Chief job last year only to leave it for teaching? Turk as well...being the head of surgery and then leavign and having them both be in the same place. So many gaps in that is what i'm worried about.

Love's my Scrubs!

ohhh he's cute

Kind of getting curious about new Scrubs. Cant wait to see it.

Ooh. He's pretty.

I dunno.

TV history has shown us the rare spin off that can work and even totally go a different route than the show it spun out from.

One great example is Lou Grant, which was a drama that came out of a quirky comedy Mary Tyler Moore.

Scrubs, again, I dunno.

Fact is lots more have tried and failed. Golden Palace (The Golden Girls), After MASH (MASH), Joey (Friends), The Sanford Arms (Sanford and Son) etc.,

Gonna give 'new' Scrubs a try, at least but my expectations are not too high.

Nervous and excited about the new Scrubs...either way, can't wait!!

Ooh, I like him. He has very good comedic timing, plus he's very cute! People should check out his "Acting Lessons" with his brother on Funny or Die!

It's my understanding that highly skilled individuals can teach and have a full-time professions. Usually they are lecturers, and I would imagine that at a teaching hospital like Sacred Heart it would not be unusual for hospital leadership to also teach.

I could not stand this guy on Privileged! He talked without moving his lips and he was hard to understand! Drove me bonkers....hopefully he'll be enunciating his words better on Scrubs!

he was great on Privileged!!
