Paula Abdul says leaving 'American Idol' wasn't about the money

paulaabdul_foxtca2009_290.jpgPaula Abdul finally gave an interview since she left "American Idol." She says it wasn't about the money, it was about the principle.

Paula tells TV Guide, "I had to stand on my principle. I'm going to miss the experience of watching young talent evolve into a place where they get to take off and soar ... I stand on principle where many people stand on money. I'm a hard-working artist. I've lasted in this business for 23 years. And you can't do that unless you are good at what you do."

That's our Paula. Lots of words, very little substance. What exactly is her "principle?" She doesn't really say. Is it that other people were offered deals before her and she felt disrespected? If it's not about the money, then what is it about?

She goes on to say that she loves her fans and all the support they've given her through this whole saga.

Ugh. I can't stand these people. What complete and utter buffoons. She gave up 11 million a year for her principles? Where were her principles when she created that wretched pop music or choreographed the mediocre routines? I'd respect these people more if they just told it like it was. It's inconceivable to me than anyone would turn down that huge payday for ANY reason. Her loss. The viewers gain.

I thought that Paula was the that made the what it is today. I am not sure if I will watch the show this season without her there I love the other judges but it will not be the same without Paula there But I would like to say to good luck in what ever she does

i think its kind of obvious what she meant. its not about the money---its that she was perceived to be worth less to fox than seacrest, simon, and randy. she was understandably insulted, and so she walked. good for her.

Bye Paula, the lip-syncing queen. Your fame faded many years ago and was revived by Idol. No matter what you say - you wanted the money. Great logic in leaving the show that made you relevant for the last 9 years. Have fun back in obscurity.

This shiw is going to suck without Paula!

FOX and Idol are Sexist!!! I have more respect for Paula now than ever for standing up to this.
