Jerry Seinfeld is 'The Jay Leno Show's' first guest

Jerryseinfeld_290 Jay Leno has said repeatedly that he wants his new prime-time show to be heavy on comedy, so it seems that he picked a pretty good first guest.

Jerry Seinfeld will help Leno kick off "The Jay Leno Show" on Monday, Sept. 14. He'll be the first guest to appear on the show, although he wasn't the first one booked: NBC announced last week that musical guests Jay-Z, Rihanna and Kanye West will perform together on the first night's show.

Seinfeld was a pretty frequent guest on "The Tonight Show" when Leno hosted, and he's still a pretty huge name in the comedy world despite his show having been off the air for more than a decade. (He'll also be able to promote his appearances on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which starts Sept. 20.)

He'll also, presumably, be game to do a few minutes of stand-up or take part in comedy bits that will make up part of the show. Leno has said he won't be following the usual desk-and-couch format with the new show and wants guests to take part in sketches and other bits.

If this isn't ironic, I don't know what is!

The man who helped lift NBC to glory in the 90s Jerry Seinfeld is scheduled to be the first guest on the show that could destroy the same network.

Love Jerry, but I won't be watching.

This lousy idea by NBC to give up on on attempts to produce quality scripted drama for the 10pm slot needs to be rejected by the viewing audience.

So Jay's 1st guest is a has-been? Maybe he should book "The Fonz" for his 2nd show.

you moron. jerry is anything but a has-been. what an idiot!

Dear Adam,
You're an idiot.

Dear Adam,
You're an idiot.

Adam speaks the truth.

Jerry Seinfeld should have his own late night talk show. When David Letterman retires, CBS should pursue Seinfeld as his replacement. That would be so awesome! "The Late Show with Jerry Seinfeld". Anyone else agree?

Another Adam hater here. Get lost Adam.

Great choice, love Jerry!!!
