'Eastwick' puts a spell on Cybill Shepherd
ABC's new series "Eastwick" is expanding its coven of witches with Cybill Shepherd.Shepherd will guest-star in multiple episodes of the show, executive producer Maggie Friedman said Saturday (Aug. 8) at the Television Critics Association press tour. She'll be playing -- yep -- a witch who's been using her powers for a good deal longer than the three principal witches, played by Lindsay Price, Rebecca Romijn and Jaime Ray Newman.
Friedman also hinted that Shepherd's character will give the show a chance to call back to the 1987 movie "The Witches of Eastwick" and John Updike's novel, which form the basis for the series. The show isn't a sequel to or continuation of the movie, but Friedman says there will be occasional references to the town of Eastwick having dealt with supernatural shenanigans before.
Shepherd's recent TV credits include recurring parts on "Psych" and "The L Word."
"Eastwick" is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 23.

It was only a so-so movie & the guy playing the devil has some pretty big shoes to fill.
So long as the writing is good...Paul Gross is *amazing*! Looking forward to seeing him playing a baddie. :)
I was planning on watching this show for Jaime Ray Newman, but I cannot take Cybil Shepard so now I will p*** on it.
Great casting scoop!
Well, this show sounds interesting... although I agree, trying to fill Satan's shoes (Jack Nicknelson who is a fantastic actor) is next to impossible. On the other hand, filling Cher's shoes should not be impossible.
