DJ AM, a.k.a. Adam Goldstein, found dead

Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, was found dead in his New York apartment early Friday (Aug. 28) evening.DJ AM hadn't been seen or heard from for a few days, reports TMZ. Friends when to check on him and notified police when he didn't answer the door.
Police broke into the apartment and DJ AM's body was found along with several prescription pill bottles.
DJ AM cheated death not once, but twice, this past year. Last September, he and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker were the only survivors of plane crash in South Carolina that killed four others, although DJ AM did suffer third degree burns.
Then, in March, he canceled his reservation at the last minute on the Continental flight that crashed in Buffalo, NY, killing 49 people.

I'm sad the guy died and everything, but how is he famous?
He is a D-list celeb at best can't believe people actual care about him or think his death is news.
Apparently, this guy was a celeb only in the eyes of other celebs, because most people I've spoken to have never heard of him. Too bad he died, but why all this outpouring over somebody that it seems that only Hollywood and the media knew?
