Announcing the first Zap2it meet-up for 'Lost' fans: Special guests, swag, and more!

So yesterday, I promised my "Lost" peeps some reader appreciation. So today, I'm delivering on that promise with the first of two big announcements this week. Up first? Information about our first meet-up! Yes, contrary to popular opinion, I 1) do in fact exist as a corporeal entity, and 2) do not burst into flames when exposed to sunlight. And this excursion will hopefully prove that.

And while I live in Boston, the meet up will NOT be in Boston. That's just what they'd be expecting! ("They" being The Others, of course.) Where will it be? When will it be? Read my meet-up FAQ to find out.

What's this shindig called?

Zap2Locke Con!

Why is it being called that?

Because it's not only a meet-up for this blog, but for the blog Long Live Locke as well! That's right, one of my favorite bloggers, Erika Olson, will be participating in the meet-up as well.

Is it really a Con?

In spirit, yes. In terms of "booth babes and staying up all night to hear people talk about the show," not really. We're co-hosting a night of "Lost" fun and general merriment/mayhem, depending on whether or not we can score an open bar or all have to share a box of Dharma boxed wine.

A bar? But I'm not 21. Why you be hatin'?

For the sake of ease and not getting arrested, we're going to go to an over-21 establishment. I know. I'm agist that that way. Apologies in advance.

Does the Con have a logo that I can squeal over and/or steal for the purposes of pimping this event on your behalf?

So what are the details?

Well, here are the certainties: we're going to gather at 7 pm on September 18th, 2009, in Chicago.

Why Chicago?

Well, for one thing, I was planning on visiting some of my cohorts in Zap2it's Chicago branch. Secondly, Erika lives there as well. Thirdly, I'm all for hosting meet-ups in cities in which I'm unafraid to be banned from future use of potential establishments in lieu of any shenanigans that might go down.

So what IS the establishment?

Good question. A lot of this will depend on interest. The Zap2Locke Con isn't some well-oiled, well-heeled party machine: it's myself, Erika, and a host of other Zap2it people who want to try and meet some of our readers. So we'll get a sense of how many people want to come out, hang for a few hours, have a few drinks, and generally have fun. And from there, we'll pick a joint, and both Erika and I will publish info to you all at that time.

Sure, I like me an adult beverage every now and then, but why should I come to this particular watering hole?

The powers that be at Zap2it are going to provide some goodies to those that attend. We can't buy you shots, but we should have some fun giveaways in addition to our fabulous selves as well.

Will there be a group singalong of "South by South Pacific"?

Only if there's a God in the heavens.
