'Alias,' 'Firefly' alum lands recurring 'Gossip Girl' role
Gina Torres is joining "Gossip Girl."
TVGuide.com reports that the former "Alias" and "Firefly" actress has been cast as Gabriela Abrams, mom to Miss Vanessa.
The character is said to be warm and outgoing, yet opinionated. She's a bit of a free spirit, returning to New York this season after living in the middle of nowheresville, Vermont for some time.

Good choice. Loved her as Anna Espinosa. Also, I think she's Mrs. Laurence Fishbourne in real life.
Yes sounds like Jasmin on Angel, only I think less 'Apocalyptic Evil' she I think will be fun to watch especially if she and Blair end up in the same room.

NO! Now I have to watch GOSSIP GIRL damn it.
Loved her in Firefly - she defined a type of kick-*** character with real principles and a large heart, not not just cardboard bad***. That is not an easy combo to consistently play, I'd think. And a free- spirit, strong. independent woman will make another fine role for her. Now if only I can force myself to watch Gossip Girl...
