ABC books 'Time Traveler's Wife' pilot
"The Time Traveler's Wife," which made its big-screen debut over the weekend, could be headed to television in the near future.
On the heels of the movie's solid opening, ABC has ordered a pilot based on Audrey Niffenegger's novel about a man who's unstuck in time and the woman who endures his unscheduled trips away. "Friends" co-creator Marta Kauffman will write the script and executive produce.
Though the pilot order is undoubtedly influenced by the movie's $18.6 million take at the box office, The Wrap reports that ABC and Kauffman have been discussing a TV version of the story "for years." The hope is that a series will be able to explore the relationship between time traveler Henry (played by Eric Bana in the film) and his wife, Clare (Rachel McAdams), more fully than a two-hour movie allows.
Kauffman's most recent series was "Related," which lasted one season on The WB in 2005-06.\

Um... "Journeyman" anyone? How about we UNcancel that and run that show instead?
Echo Eric.
journeyman was exactly what i was thinkning too!!
I second Eric. In fact, "Journeyman" was in development and on the air before this movie. I guess they canceled it to make way for the next "So you think you can make a show without judges" show.
Journeyman was cancelled way to soon.....it was definitely one of the better shows on television. I can't see how this show would be any better.
Have to admit that Journeyman was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the blurb...
One thing though; in my case, I didn't really get on board with Journeyman. I think a large part of it was the convoluted mystery of what was really happening with him and how could he get home for good, that bothered me so much. Also, why did it suddenly start...?
I haven't seen the The Time Traveler's Wife yet, but I *loved* the book and feel that a television version of it is going to be a lot more straightforward in some ways than Journeyman.
And potentially, the show can spend time with varying different ages of Claire (and Henry); delving deeper into their history. Um, present.... I mean, future.
NOO the movie was awful... it wasnt just the plot its the whole concept that doesnt work... ill try to not spoil anything but youll know what i mean by it not working when you see the movie
"Journeyman" was a great show that was shot down before it had a chance. The greedy numbskulls at the network think that if there not making money hand over fist within 3 weeks of the pilot there must be something wrong with the show. "Journeyman" infact was a lot more interesting than "Time Travelers Wife" will be, if it even makes it to TV. I've read "Time Travelers Wife" and seen the movie and enjoyed both. The movie wasn't completely true to the book, but was enough to tell the story. If you ask me I don't how there going to make the TV show worth watching because the movie pretty much tells it all. So lets resurrect Journeyman, I'm sure the actors would appreciate the work.
P.S. Kyle doesn't know what he's talking about.
WTF???
Yes, Journeyman!
An absolutely great show that was canceled way too soon.
What the hell is ABC thinking?
Seriously, what is wrong with these effing networks?
HAHA i was thinking about journeyman also.
i mean i am a big fan of the book. but i don't think a tv series of it is necessary. people just need to read the book.
bring back journeyman instead!
