'The Hills'' Lauren Conrad leaps to the top of the New York Times Bestseller list
Lauren Conrad: Reality star. Fashion designer. Best-selling author.
Yep.
Have you heard that L.C.'s debut novel, "L.A. Candy," has been at the top of the New York Times Best Seller list for the last two weeks?
Now, whether she actually wrote the book herself, who knows? But she's definitely taking credit for it, telling People, "If someone said to me five years ago when this all started that I would one day make the New York Times Best Seller list I wouldn't have believed it. I am so honored that it is now a reality."
How do you feel about the fact that we as a society are so fascinated by the life of someone like Lauren Conrad that we're not only obsessed with her (former) TV show, but we are making a book based on her experience a New York Times Best Seller?
I'd love to hear from someone who's actually bought and read the thing...

It's a fun beach read. Honestly, I don't get why people are making a big deal about her book selling so well. Didn't Tori Spelling's and Nicole Richie's books make it to the NYT bestsellers list as well? She has a very large fan base and people kind of watched her grow up. MTV was stupid to let her go. She was their #1 cash cow for 5 years. People will always want to keep up with her life and not only see what she does in her post-Hills career, but support her efforts.
here today, gone tomorrow....
I bought and read the book, it was a fun and easy read. She is not trying to be the next Hemingway, she's more like Meyer and the rest of chic lit. Leave the girl alone, at least she is doing something worthwhile instead of club hopping and flashing her whoha everywhere.
No one's knocking her. Good for her. It's more like I'm knocking us :) Why do we love this crap so much?
L.A. Candy was a fun easy read. It was perfect to read on the airplane and then while laying out on the beach. I really enjoyed it! Just thought it kind of ended abruptly...
Korbi,
That is one thing I just don't understand. I watched a couple of episodes of Laguna Beach (I think that is what it is called), and I didn't see what all the fascination was about. I thought it was BORING, and a waste of time. Thank God I can turn off the TV or change the channel. To me these people don't really have any talent. And I'm not a fan of reality TV.
i think her book was amazing.
I was kinda hoping once she was off a TV show, we never had to hear about her again.
I'm not surprised. People love them some LC. Congrats to Ms. Conrad!
The show was probably not aimed at your group. The show was aimed towards the teen crowd, and i'm guessing you aren't in that group, but the show shouldn't reflect how well her book sells or if it's a good read or not.
