Stevenweber_studio60_290 ABC's midseason series "Happy Town" is getting a couple of new residents, including former "Wings" and "Studio 60" star Steven Weber.

Weber is in talks to take a lead role in the show as one of the most powerful people in the titular town. Ben Schnetzer has also joined the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Happy Town" follows the residents of Haplin, Minn., as they deal with the apparent reappearance of a serial kidnapper known as the Magic Man after several peaceful years. Weber will play John Haplin, whose family gives the town its name and whose daughter was kidnapped by the Magic Man during the criminal's previous spree.

Schnetzer is set to play Weber's teenage son, who's involved in a secret, star-crossed romance.

Both roles are being recast from the pilot. Dean Winters ("Life on Mars," "30 Rock") played the Weber part in the pilot, and John Patrick Amedori ("Gossip Girl") played his son.

Weber has had recurring parts on "Brothers & Sisters" and "Without a Trace" in the past couple of seasons. He also guested on "Party Down" earlier this year.

well im not watching now the only reason i was gonna watch is because of Dean Winters

Dean Winters is not going to be on anymore? Forget it, it's off my list.

Definitely sounds like it will be one of the few original concepts on the air next year. If it's done well it could develop a following by mainstream America.

I like Steven Weber... he was probably the best part of Studio 60 and I liked him on Brothers & Sisters, too. He has a rep as a "show killer" but I like him. This makes me more likely to watch this show now that he's part of the cast.

Yip main reason for watching was Dean Winters - for shame I say!

I'll still watch, but I have to admit that I'm saddened to lose my man-crush Dean Winters.
