'Stargate Universe' debuts on Syfy in October

Mingna_su_290 Syfy unveiled its fall schedule Monday, including the highly anticipated launch of its latest series in the "Stargate" franchise.

"Stargate Universe" will premiere with a special two-hour episode on Friday, Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT

The one-hour drama centers on a group of people on a hidden base that has come under attack, forcing them to flee through a Stargate, only to emerge on an ancient ship locked on an unknown course. The mix of civilians, soldiers and scientists must learn to survive, but also try to unlock the ship's secrets in order to try to return to Earth.

The cast includes Robert Carlyle, Lou Diamond Phillips, Ming-Na, Alaina Huffman, Louis Ferreira, David Blue, Jamil Walker Smith and Brian J. Smith

The second season of "Sanctuary" will premiere on Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 p.m., while a month earlier on Sept. 9 at 9 p.m., "Destination Truth" will return with its third season.

Meanwhile, the freshman series "Warehouse 13" will continue with all-new episodes on Tuesday nights throughout September, while "Ghost Hunters" will have new episodes throughout the fall on Wednesdays. "Scare Tactics" returns on Tuesday, Oct. 6 with new episodes in its third season.

I'll give it a chance, but I doubt that it'll hold my interest any more than "Stargate Atlantis" did. Personally, I'd much rather see them air new episodes of "Doctor Who," but I know that's not going to happen on this lame-a** excuse for a network (and I don't get BBC America, so I'm screwed until they arrive on DVD).

Well, since there *aren't* any "new episodes" of Doctor Who this year (just a handful of specials), it'll be difficult for them to arrive on DVD, let alone air on Syfy. And I'm sure that Syfy will be airing the specials as they're released, just as Space here in Canada will...albeit the better part of a year later :-(

Lou Diamond Phillips...Really...WHY?

I have enjoyed both SG series so I hope to see some great things on this new one.
