Strangers_290 If you're like us, yesterday's "Saw VI" trailer caught you by surprise, mostly because you assumed the series had ended. I mean, come on, Jigsaw's been dead for a while.

Now comes news from Variety that "Saw VII" and fellow horror sequel "The Strangers 2" are both in the works. At this rate, serial killers are going to depopulate the world faster than climate-change catastrophes.

See pictures of the politics of horror.

"Strangers 2" -- which follows the "loosely based on real events" home-invasion plot of the first film -- will be directed by French music-video helmer Laurent Briet. Don't ask about the plot; it's being kept secret.

As for Jigsaw's spawn, "Saw VII" will be directed by "Saw V's" David Hackl. There's no script yet, but we're gonna go out on a limb and say a group of people guilty of wasting their lives (Jigsaw's pet peeve) will be placed in ingenious but deadly traps.

Saw VI has been known for a while. Not only because this series will never end, but especially because they had that whole SCREAM QUEENS show to cast this. Not really the best examples of horror, but surprisingly good when one considers there's already been five. In comparison, by his fifth movie Freddy was looking for a "Dream Child", while the 6th Elm Street had Roseanne. ROSEANNE!! Oh and despite the awesome Paul Rudd, the 6th Halloween was Curse of Michael Myers. The next Saw kind of wins by default.

I highly disagree with Jay's comments. People please respect your elders whenit comes to the horror franchises. I just literally blogged about this on my webpage. Saw VI or VII will be considered a waste by our kids in the next ten years like people are doing the original Nightmare, Friday, and Halloween films. At least there aren't different killers in each sequel. You paid for what you got back then in the 80s: Freddy or Jason doing damage to stupid teenagers. Not copycats taking on a delusional crybaby's work. In my opinion, Saw should have ended at the third entry and the horror community wouldn't have had saw if it wasn't for those "terrible sequels" of the 80s.

As long as the Saw franchise keeps racking up $30 to $40 million their first week we will see more. They're very cheap to make and people seem to love them. Come on guys..... someone is going to see all these films. Thats why they make so much money.
