'Rescue Me': Are you watching? Let me tell you why you must
With "True Blood," "Nurse Jackie," "Weeds," "My Life on the D-List," etc., summer TV is really very solid right now, but I feel like "Rescue Me" -- easily one of the best shows on television at any time of the year -- isn't getting enough love. And, at the moment, it's in the middle of one of the greatest seasons of the series so far.

If not, allow me tell you why you should. As I mentioned in Zap2it's Supersized Emmy feature last month, "Rescue Me" is a dramedy in which guys
talk like guys really do. The stuff that comes out of their mouths
may not be politically correct or appropriate, but its damn funny. The
unapologetic humor, coupled with real issues -- alcoholism, grief, the
aftermath of 9/11 -- makes "Rescue Me" television's unsung hero.
Also, as I said, it's really funny.
Tonight, a brand new episode will air on FX and this is as good a time as any to jump in. FX is really good about giving viewers a comprehensive "Previously on..." at the top of the hour and it's not hard to figure out what's going down.
For those who have been watching all along, some great stuff on tap tonight. The hazing of Damien begins as he graduates from Probie school to become 62 Truck's newest bitch. Tommy continues to cavort with both Sheila and Janet, though neither of them trust him enough to show him any real affection. Sean gets released from the hospital, cancer-free. And one of our boys beats the piss out of a politician... on camera.

THANK YOU KORBI for the RESCUE ME luv! I know I've been telling all my friends that this season is a can't miss. Dennis Leary deserves an Emmy for work this season! When was the cutoff for eligibility for the next Emmy Awards? I'd hate for the voters to not remember the great work from the start of this season? That episode where he talked to the French book author about 9/11 and dropped his 1 year coin in the gl***??? Totally Emmy worthy!
rescue me has been especially amazing this season. hilariously funny, moments that bring me to tears... excellent cast and writing!
Rescue Me is easily one of the funniest and most poiniant shows on TV. But this season has given me a weekly dose of deja vu.

Done that...to death. (Though seeing Andrea Roth and Callie Thorne in those scenes never gets old...hey, I'm a guy!)
Tommy's drinking and seeing ghosts.

Tommy pulls dangerous, yet effective stunts on the job.
Seen it...but love it.
Adam Ferrara has been a great addition...funny as hell. But I keep feeling that I've seen this season before.
Even though they've done the female firefighter story before, I'd like to see them turn it on it's head by introducing a strong woman who can physically go toe to toe with these guys and can actually do the job...not a babe who can't.
The cut off date for Emmy elgibility was May 31st. So Leary is fine for consideration and should be for the Best Actor nod. He deserves it.
I LOVE this show. Love this season. Love Tommy Love Lou Love Sean and Black Sean and Mikey and Franco... the old chief had some great lines last week too and you can't forget the girls, Sheila Janet and Tommy's daughter, all great.
Myke25 - I hear ya' but the opening of the season was really strong. I also have hope we'll see some stronger payoffs to the deju vu storylines this time around.
I would like to see Franco's daughter reappear before the end of the season. I liked their relationship. There needs to be more of a strong female presence IMO. Janet and Tommy need to reunite already
Awesome! "Perspective" (Tommy and Genevieve at Ground Zero) aired on May 12th, so it would have made it into Emmy consideration! They timed those early episodes just right!

Great show! I love Denis Leary,(hes on my friends list on MySpace),hes an excellent actor & comedian.Not to mention,sexy in every way possible.The show is one of those shows that once you watch it, you're addicted.I love Franco,too.Actually they are all great,but I think Tommy should either choose between Shelia,and Janet,or get a new lady.Either way,its an awesome show,and they all should be commended for the great work they all do to make Rescue Me such a great show!!!Also, I would like to see morre of Michael J.Fox,he was hilarious!
