Mauratierney_parenthood_290 The new fall drama "Parenthood," which was supposed to anchor NBC on Wednesday nights, has been suddenly pushed to midseason to accommodate an 8-week medical evaluation for cast member Maura Tierney.

No details have been released as to what illness or condition requires the 44-year-old actress to undergo such a lengthy evaluation, although the network did release a statement explaining that it was unable to give further details and asking that the media "respect her privacy at this time."

Based on the 1989 Steve Martin movie, "Parenthood" centers on four siblings (Peter Krause, Tierney, Erika Christensen, Dax Shepard) their parents and their assorted significant others and offspring. Tierney's role was played by Dianne Weist in the original movie.

With "Parenthood" moving to midseason, the drama "Mercy" is hastily going into early production so that it can premiere in September instead. The decision has yet to be made if it will fill "Parenthood's" Wednesday night spot or if the network will do further shuffling.

Now that Parenthood has moved to midseason, and Mercy will start shooting WAY earlier than expected, will Michelle Trachtenberg still have time to appear on Gossip Girl?

She will if NBC cancels "Mercy" fast enough.

Bring back CHUCK early.....

Why does NBC keep recycling shows they already did or shows already been done by the other networks? They revived Dark Shadows, Hunter, Bionic Woman, and Knight Rider, and all of them failed to make it out of the first season. Parenthood will be another failed revival. NBC needs more original programing. As the music group Barenaked Ladies said: "It's all been done before."

"Bring back CHUCK early....."

And keep it on all year!

Yep, I agree, bring back Chuck!

i hope maura is okay!

I hope everything turns out okay for Maura.

The need to bring CHUCK back at the beginning of the season!!!!

Parenthood has something those other failed revivals didn't have...Jason Katims. OK, Bionic Woman had him, but he joined up too late to make any kind of real impact.
