'How I Met Your Mother's' Cobie Smulders is a mother

Cobie Smulders isn't the mother in the CBS sitcom on which she stars, but she's now one in real life.

Actually, she's been a mom for a little while now, but word of the "How I Met Your Mother" star giving birth is just now getting out. Smulders and her fiance, actor Taran Killam, welcomed baby girl Shaelyn Cado Killam into their family on May 16, People reports.

It's the first child for the couple, who are both 27.

Smulders' pregnancy, along that of co-star Alyson Hannigan, was on display -- sort of -- for the second half of "HIMYM's" season. The show's producers hid the actresses' bellies underneath loose clothing and behind props, but it was done with a bit of a wink to fans who knew about Smulders' and Hannigan's impending motherhood.

The show also juggled its production schedule a bit to accommodate the actresses' pregnancies. The finale was shot out of order to allow both Hannigan, whose daughter was born in March, and Smulders to take part before they had to take time off.
