FX gets animated with 'Frisky Dingo' creator
FX has picked up an animated series from one of the creators of Adult Swim's "Frisky Dingo."
The tentatively titled "Archer" comes from Adam Reed, who co-created "Frisky Dingo" and "Sealab 2021." FX has ordered six episodes and will launch the show in the fall.
When FX announced its fall schedule a couple weeks ago, the cable channel said it "has plans" to premiere a new show with "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" on Thursday nights. "Archer" may or may not be that show. An FX spokesman says two other comedies are also in development, but there's a decent chance that "Archer" will at least get a trial run alongside "Sunny."
The show centers on superspy Sterling Archer (voiced by Jon Benjamin of "Home Movies" and "Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist"), who's got some issues at his work place, international espionage agency ISIS. His codename is "Duchess"; his overbearing mom (Jessica Walter, "90210") is also his boss; his ex-girlfriend (Aisha Tyler) still works with him and is dating the agency comptroller (Chris Parnell). Oh, and his mom's secretary (Judy Greer) has a crush on him.
"This project has been a great surprise for us, and we're excited about adding it to our fall schedule," says Nick Grad, head of original programming at FX. "Adam Reed has written successful animated series for Adult Swim/Cartoon Network, and he has taken this format and given it a live-action feel. ... It clearly fits the FX brand and we believe it will find support from the fans of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.'"
If you're a fan of "Sealab" or "Frisky Dingo," chances are "Archer" will be up your alley. FX released a two-minute clip of the show (which was posted here earlier; FX has since asked us to take it down), and its humor is right in line with Reed's previous shows.

Good, "Sealab 2021" is gut busting funny :)
Love Sealab and Frisky Dingo. Will definately check this out
If its on FX it should be tastless & funny.
Truly I'm psyched for this show. I could watch Frisky Dingo and Sealab over and over again, it will still be funny. Pairing it with Always Sunny is now forcing me to finally spring for cable.
Amazing vocal talent! Since it's on with Sunny I may as well keep the channel on and watch it.
