Evian Roller Babies: Stop the madness

Evian America is going crazy over the Evian Roller Babies. At least, judging by the coo-ing and "isn't-that-cute-I-could-watch-it-all-day" coming out of our television courtesy of the morning talk shows it is.

Color us creeped out.

Sure, we're all for dressing up animals and making them do silly things. The picture of Keyboard Cat with Michael Jackson's signature sparkly glove over his paw (that we found on Movieline, although we're not 100% certain it was their Photoshop wizardry that created the effect) has had us giggling for the past two days.

Keyboardmichael Babies are a different story though. Remember the "Ally McBeal" dancing baby? Yeah, not quirky, not fun. Just another way of making a woman's biological clock even scarier than it already is.

Gee, thanks.

Why does Evian feature babies roller-skating to a hip-hop song in its ad anyway? Supposedly because drinking that particular brand of bottled water allows you to "live young, body and mind."

The Fountain of Youth in a bottle sounds like a great idea, but can't we pick what year we go back to?

We're going to put babies dancing, talking or roller-skating right in between dolls coming to life and the balance of our 401-K on the list of things we don't want to see or think about.

The one exception? The E* Trade baby. That kid's got great comic timing.

Totally agree with you on the E*Trade baby. I consistently laugh at all of his commercials. Good stuff.

I also agree about the E*Trade baby being hilarious. I disagree about the rest, though. This is the first time I've seen this baby ad and it is funny and this is from someone who doesn't find babies particularly cute or appealing. Okay, the cat video was kind of funny but I really can't stand it when people dress animals up in human clothing. It's more depressing than funny, usually.
