Jeffreydonovan_burnnotice_s3_290 Jeffrey Donovan, star of spy drama "Burn Notice," is obviously only stealthy on TV.

The 41-year-old USA network actor was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence when he swerved to avoid rear-ending a police car on Sunday, July 12 in Miami Beach, reports TMZ.com.

According to the police report, the officer, whose car was narrowly avoided getting hit, approached Donovan, who said, "Sorry, I didn't see the red light or your stopped car."

The actor told the officer that he had had three drinks earlier. He failed a field sobriety test and was arrested, whereupon he then revealed, "The only mistake I made tonight was drinking Benadryl with 3 glasses of wine."

"Burn Notice" is set and shot in Miami. The series centers on operative Michael Westen, who was "burned," that is, he was deemed unreliable and was "wiped off the grid."

Vote for Michael Westen for best spy in Zap2it's Greatest TV characters poll.

"Burn Notice" will hold a panel session at Comic-Con on Thursday, July 23 in San Diego.

Why did it take a week for the news to come out? And is this still news a week later?

Another loser!!!

Well, I certainly would have let him ride me home no problem at all......

At some point in their life, every adult has had a few gl***es of wine with dinner and then drove themselves home. Most never get pulled over. It's only news when a celebrity gets caught.

Jeffrey Donovan made a mistake and will hopefully learn from it. From the interviews I've seen, he appears to be a good person.

Yeah, Katie is right. It's every adults right, nay, duty to get drunk and drive at some point in their life. So cut the guy some slack, because he was only fulfilling his duty of endangering himself and the people around him.

Poor guy. He just made a mistake. At least no one got hurt. He's not another loser and I'm pretty sure he could choke you out 'who cares'

What an idiot. One thing I can't stand is a person that has financial means who simply don't have the common sense to call a cab and not drive.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, he's had martial arts training, which if true goes against all teachings of mind, body and self-discipline.

Idiot.

Truthfully, 3 gl***es of wine with dinner, if imbibed over a long enough period of time, might not be enough to push you over the legal limit of 0.08. If he was taking Benadryl at the same time, though, it definitely would.

This just proves that even Superman could get his *** kicked if he had Benadryl (or worse yet, Nyquil) in his system. That stuff is evil.
