'Alien' prequel bursts into life

Alien1979_290 Those pesky xenomorphs from the "Alien" series are coming back. Again. Some more.

Ridley Scott, director of the 1979 original, has signed on with 20th Century Fox to create a prequel to the series. His company Scott Free will also produce the film.

You'd be right in wondering, "Weren't the 'Alien vs. Predator' movies prequels?" You are correct, sort of: Those movies introduced xenomorphs to Earthlings well before the timeline put forth by the "Alien" movies.

But seriously, though the monsters we see in the first movie come from a very inhuman source, the events of 1986's "Aliens" hint that the Weyland-Yutani Corporation knew of the xenomorph's existence even sending the crew of the Nostromo to investigate.

Ahem. Not that we've practically memorized the first two movies or anything.

There's no word yet on a plot, or who will star.

This movie is going to be the shiz........

Hopefully, Scott will ignore the AVP films and relegate them to their own separate galaxy -- preferably one that's far, far away.

The "Alien" franchise should stick to its own mythology. Not that I've given this much thought ... of course!

hope it will be better than the avp movies

The reason why Yutani-Wayland knew of the existence of xenomorphs in Aliens was because of AVP1&2.

Really looking forward to this! It´s been too long since the last Alien. glad Scott´s back at the helm!
