HBO has released a trailer for long-in-the-making miniseries "The Pacific," and from the looks of things, it will be worth the wait.

The 10-hour miniseries, scheduled to premiere next year, chronicles the fierce battles of World War II's Pacific Theater through the eyes of three U.S. Marines. It's something of a companion piece to 2001's "Band of Brothers" and comes from same producing team, which includes Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg.

Based on the trailer, "The Pacific" will have every bit of the epic scale that its predecessor had while offering an intimate look at how soldiers in the Pacific dealt with the brutality of the fighting there. Take a look:

James Badge Dale ("24," "The Departed"), Joe Mazzello ("Jurassic Park," "Raising Helen") and Jon Seda ("Close to Home") head the cast of "The Pacific." It's based on two books by Marines who served there, Robert Leckie's "Helmet for My Pillow" and Eugene Sledge's "With the Old Breed," as well as interviews with veterans.
