Your mission, if you choose to accept it: Get Tom Cruise signed to a fourth "Mission: Impossible" film.

Access Hollywood claims a fourth film in the spy-action series is in the earliest stages of planning, with "Mission: Impossible III" director J.J. Abrams signed on as a producer.

"Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing," Abrams told Access Hollywood. "I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer."

Abrams' calendar may not cooperate: He's a hot commodity right now between his television series "Fringe" and "Lost," not to mention "Star Trek" sequels.

They're the only movies people want to see Tom in these days.

I am a little fed up to always hear about JJ Abrams : Lost is cool (good storytelling, Michael Emerson, some good characters) but it is Lindelof the mastermind behind, Fringe is not awful but not very good, Star Trek good but Chris Pine is not a very good actor (wooden).
For Tom Cruise; the guy can be uber self-absorbed, egomaniac but he also can be a very good actor with a great director (think about Minority Report,Collateral,Magnolia,Rain Man ...)

Mission Impossible III was a great film that would have been bigger had Tom Cruise not been on a crazy behaving binge at that time. Teaming J Abrams and Cruise together for Mission 4 now that Tom has his mojo back will prove to be very lucrative for all involved especially if the concept for the new Mission is as amazing as they have made it appear to be thus far.

Dump Tom Cruise. Mission Impossible (especially under JJ Abrams) can be so much better and stories could be so much stronger. Tom Cruise CAN'T ACT. He is one dimensional and he would make the whole movie about him which was good in the First, Horrible in the second and a disappointment in the third.

Can't really say Tom Cruise is much of an actor. His range is two characters, early crazy-boy Tom, and MI ect. action man.- not really a great range, but Mission Impossibles are fun to watch.

Tom Cruise is an excellent actor, shown in roles as noted by a previous poster. He should've gotten an Oscar for Born on the 4th of July. Some felt he deserved one for Magnolia, though, of course he did well, I personally didn't like the character he portrayed.

No actor/actress varies to an extreme, really. Even Johnny Depp plays mostly offbeat characters, which is basically the same thing, just different variations.

Tom Cruise MADE Mission Impossible exciting and he can do it again.

All stars have egos, lots of non-stars do, too. I've seen bigger egos on much lesser stars.

Born on the 4th of July, Collateral,RainMan,A Few Good Men, Jerry MaGuire, and fun exciting movies Mission Impossible's, He's tops...skilled, talented and gorgeous. Cute, too. What talent!!!Plus a warm and loving individual. He finally opened up and got beat up for it. Give him his Award, Tops in his field.

I agree with Sandy B. Tom is very talented and for the short moment in time he opened up the poor guy got hammered by the press. I'm ready for his return and I'm looking foward to it.

I completely agree with brendan and Reg; I don't think Tom Cruise acts. Notice I didn't say he can't act (as yes, the one exception is Born on the 4th of July), I just believe he doesn't bother to act in most movies. I always feel like I'm just watching Tom Cruise, same in nearly every part. Very boring, very lacking. He may be capable of more, but I believe we rarely see it. That, paired with his clearly misinformed and undeniably offensive comments about postpartum depression and other mental illnesses, I refuse to watch him or pay to see any movie he is a part of.
