Showtime renews 'Nurse Jackie' for season 2
Record ratings for Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" premiere last night -- 1.35 million viewers -- has earned the series a second season pickup.
Though the number is the combined total of its two Monday airings, that's still better than the premiere numbers for "Weeds," "Dexter," "Californication" and "The Tudors."
The season premiere of "Weeds" did pretty well too, drawing a combined 1.68 million people in its two airings. That's a 25 percent jump over last year's finale.
The new season of "Nurse Jackie" will start shooting later in the summer and premiere next year.
So, thoughts? Did you watch last night? Were you into the Edie Falco dramedy? Are you digging the character or do you think she's a bit much?

Her British friend/doctor at the hospital is great! She defiantly helps make the show as well as the rest of the supporting cast. Why is Jackie's husband more attractive than the doctor she's screwing at work? What is that about? Usually people trade up for something they are not getting at home when they cheat so it will be interesting to find out what about the doc at work does it for her.
Not bad - love Edie Falco, but controversial and disturbing kind of in a good way cause it makes you think and it stuck with me long after it ended. Is that a good thing or no?

I am a student nurse and I loved the show..although the student in the show was a little immature ..I bet she'll be good. I think Edie's character is a little dark but she has good intentions.I am very curious to see what happens next. I must admit though that I don't like the infidelity.. I think anyone that said the show stunk maybe give it a second chance.
Jackie was "trading up" for drugs. It doesn't matter what he looks like, if he's giving her what she needs.
Nurse Jackie... is that suppouse to be a comedy???
Yeah, like the above commenters, people that think the show stinks should give it another shot(hehe). There are some definite flaws about the show, but nothing that shouldn't be taken with a grain of salt. The fact that it is so unrealistic of a real nurse's lifestyle makes it that much better in my opinion.
Dang! That's better than half what game 6 got (2.3/5 or ~2.6 mil). I can see I will eventually have to watch this...
drew me in from the first episode. Witty, fresh, real. I had given up on TV long ago but this show makes me laugh and I can relate to the main character as a mom, trying to provide for her family, no matter what undesirable things she has to do. Bravo, keep it coming!
I think the show is really good but some people should realize that this show is fiction not pasted after reality.
