Eddiemurphy_tonightshow_290 Riddle me this: Who won't be playing the Dark Knight's puzzle-posing profligate?

While plugging new movie "Imagine That" on last night's "Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien," Eddie Murphy dismissed rumors he had been contacted to play The Riddler in the next Batman movie.

That got us wondering: Who would work well as The Riddler?

Plus, check out the video to see which Batman villain Murphy would love to play.

get that norman gentle dude from idol to play riddler that would be great

Michael Emerson would be great, but he's too short.

Rainn Wilson has my vote.

johnny depp

Robert Knepper in his portrayal as T-Bag on Prison Break that he plays the psychotic evil character better than anyone; although that is more of why he would have been a MUCH better choice to play The Joke than Heath Ledger. I actually though Jim Carey did a great job as The Riddle in "Batman Forever". I also HATE when they have black actors play white characters (Kingpin and Catwoman are white, so there was no reason to cast black actors for those roles), so I would not have supported Murphy as the Riddler.

Ditto on the Johnny Depp vote!

David Tennant is on record as saying he would love to play The Riddler. He'd make a great choice.

It's not going to be the Riddler. The creators have stated they don't want to do any more villains who have previously been done on film. Expect a reimagining of a lesser-known character like Hush or Holiday instead.

Oh Thank God, the only good part would be 'Oh good.. Eddie Murphy's getting punched in the face repeatedly'

YES David Tennant would be HOT

Johnny Depp or Michael Emerson. Get Ben some major lifts and he will be peerrrrfect. I've been so impressed with his twistedness on Lost

I don't think I've ever heard of ANYone on the list, so I can't vote. But I'll go with either of two I've seen in the replies here so far: 1. Johnny Depp (top choice), 2. David Tennant. Problem is, most American's haven't heard of Tennant since "Doctor Who" isn't as popular here.
