Newly discovered Marilyn Monroe pictures hit the Web

LIFE has undertaken the Herculean task of digitizing its entire photo archive. As a result, certain treasures are coming to the surface, including 15 never-before released photos of sex symbol and screen legend Marilyn Monroe.

LIFE photographer Ed Clark took the photos of the 24-year-old Monroe in Los Angeles' Grffith Park three months after her appearance in "Asphalt Jungle" and two months before her she filmed a small role in "All About Eve."

Posing in both a bathing suit top and short-shorts, in the pictures Monroe flips through a script, shows off what she's been learning in her acting classes as well as her famous legs.
