Neil Patrick Harris goes from Barney to 'Beastly'
Neil Patrick Harris is ready to suit up for two new films.
The "How I Met Your Mother" star will take lead roles in an indie kindergarten comedy and a modern retelling of "Beauty and the Beast," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In "Beastly," also starring Mary-Kate Olsen and Vanessa Hudgens, Harris will play a blind teacher to the movie's Beast (a teen cursed by Olsen). That movie has yet to begin filming.
The indie, "The Best and the Brightest," will follow Harris and "The O.C.'s" Bonnie Somerville as parents who move to New York City and contend with its rather competitive school scene. Doing a 180 from "HIMYM's" Barney Stinson, Harris' character will be totally oblivious to Manhattan's social caste system.
The actor was also host of the 2009 Tony Awards.
