Cher returns for Christina Aguilera's 'Burlesque'

Where's Cher been?

The singer and actress, once so prolific, virtually disappeared from the big screen after 1999's "Tea with Mussolini."

Well, she's back. Variety reports Cher will co-star alongside Christina Aguilera's first lead role in "Burlesque."

Aguilera has signed on to play a small-town girl who lands a singing gig at a Los Angeles club owned by Cher. No points for guessing the star's vocal acrobatics will help save the financially struggling venue.

Also notable: Cher will actually sing on-screen, something Variety claims she's never done for a live-action movie role. Could we even see a duet between the pop stars?

Filming begins in November.
