Andre Braugher makes a 'House' call

Who do you get to diagnose what's going on inside Dr. Greg House's head? Someone formidable, someone who's just as smart and quick on his feet as House is.

Someone like ... Andre Braugher.

The Emmy-winning former star of "Homicide" and "Gideon's Crossing" -- where he worked with "House" executive producer Katie Jacobs -- will guest on the two-hour season premiere of "House," the show's producers revealed at a Paley Center for Media event Wednesday night.

"In thinking about who was going to diagnose the greatest diagnostician there is, I thought who would be better than someone with the authority, gravitas and great skill that Andre Braugher possesses?" Jacobs tells TV Guide.

Braugher will play a doctor at the psychiatric facility House (Hugh Laurie) checked himself into at the end of the season who takes it as his challenge to get inside House's head. Series creator David Shore calls the premiere "more like a movie," and word is the episode will take place almost entirely inside the mental facility.

Laurie, for his part, says he's psyched to work with Braugher. "I have admired him as one of the greatest actors there is," Laurie tells the magazine.

Although he'll be helping House in the premiere, Braugher may not be able to stick around for longer than that. He's set to star in TNT's series "Men of a Certain Age," which premieres in December.
