'The Smurfs' movie logo first look
"The Smurfs" movie logo is looking kind of smurfy.
Thanks to the folks at Comingsoon.net, here's a first look at the logo for the Columbia Pictures CGI-animated/live action hybrid film, which will be presented at the Licensing International Expo 2009 in Las Vegas.
Considering the audience, mainly little kids who lack the nostalgia that Gen-Xers will have for the blue, three-apples tall critters, the logo looks like it does the job.
The film, written by David Stem and David Weiss, is rumored to star John Lithgow, who could make a pretty convincing and scary Gargamel if you ask us. He just got cast as a serial killer in "Dexter" after all.
"The Smurfs" movie is slated for a December 2010 or a 2011 releease.
What do you think? Smurfy or not smurfy? Do you fear for the Mushroom Village?

Please tell me this is all 2D animation and not another live-action/3D animation hybrid.

I think I must be the only GenXer who thinks the smurfs were a pile of vomit. Ugh.
Trust me, you aren't...
Dear God are the Smurfs back again? I thought they were retired to pasture.
WOW! Is there really no news out there? A movie logo? Really?
The kids will be watching and will be like "Who are these blue creeps?" They don't know them!
I Cant Wait!!
I hope this is a smurfy movie.
I definitely want to see it. I just hope they make it a good movie.
