The CW picks up 'Vampire Diaries'
A thirst for vampires has been sired over at The CW.
The network has picked up "Vampire Diaries," its first new show announced for the fall, reports the LA Times.
In the novels, the beautiful Elena is known as the ice queen of her high school, but becomes the object of passion for two brothers -- vampire brothers. The elder sibling Damon (Paul Wesley) is charming but sadistic and had fought with his brother over a girl centuries ago. The (relatively) younger Stefan ("Lost's" Ian Somerhalder) is the angsty, silent but earnest one who actually cares for Elena deeply. Around them swirl ex-boyfriends, vampires with vendettas and perhaps even a psychic.
"Dawson's Creek's" Kevin Williamson is the creator of the show, based on the Alloy young adult novels.
The show capitalizes on the audience for vampire romances that have been popular lately with the "Twilight" books hitting the big screen and "True Blood" over on HBO.

You have your actors and roles backwards there. :) Somerhalder is playing Damon, Wesley is playing Stefan.
wow...what reporting...getting the actors and characters mixed up? ever heard of research
They'd better keep the tension, danger, and plot-twists swirling at a fever pitch to cover for the casting mistakes. If we have to watch two nearing-middle-age brothers walk thru scenes, a la Rip Van Tree Hill, it won't fly. Please don't "dumb it down," CW. If you do, your audience is history. Just ask "First Blood."
Oh, it's TRUE Blood? My bad. See, it's already out of my consciousness.
OMG I'm 29 and read these books as a teen (I still have them and read them ever so often) when I read the first little blip that CW was picking this up I was like it can't be the from the same book I'm SO excited so now the CW has Ian, Jared and Jensen WHAT?!?!?!?!? and I hope they don't have the actors/roles printed wrong stephan had the light eyes and damon dark casting better get it right and not mess this up lol.
WOW and Bonnie is BLACK!!! (I kinda like that there weren't any of us in the books....everyone needs a token)
The roles are still mixed up. Thats silly. Anyway this show will be great more vampire blood this fall.
