Peterberg_fridaynightlights_290 How do you make a movie about a board game wherein players shout out combinations of letters and numbers to sink an opposing navy?

Director Peter Berg is in talks to try with Universal's adaptation of "Battleship," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Berg was previously behind the camera for films like 2004's "Friday Night Lights" and 2008's "Hancock." Still, that's a long way from wringing pathos out of a line like, "You sank my battleship!"

Though other studios got their hands on toymaker Hasbro's lucrative action figure lines G.I. Joe and the Transformers, Universal has a deal for the company's board games. Projects are also being developed around such seemingly plot-light games as "Candy Land," "Ouija Board" and "Monopoly."
