'Parks & Recreation': Is it working for you?
Amy Poehler slinging bags of dog poop at a bunch of teenage boys while wielding a steel garbage can lid as her shield?
Hilarious.
Come on.
I LOL'd.
Sadly though, the rest of last night's "Parks and Recreation" episode was lacking... on laughs, in premise...
The fact that they spent the majority of their 23 or so minutes on Leslie's remorse over opening a few bottles of wine (it was a violation of local government policy) is not good.
And it is, perhaps, a result of the limitations of the show's overall concept.
I mean, how long can they really drag out this will-the-park-ever-happen storyline?
Well, forever, I guess... if they plan on spending whole episodes on things like Leslie drinking forbidden wine.
That's not to say "Parks and Rec" is doomed. Aziz Ansari's Tom Haverford is funny as hell. Poehler can do anything. And last week's Mark-sleeping-with-the-reporter story totally worked.
I just think the writers must find some way to open the series up a bit. The dynamic between Mark and Leslie is fantastic. But, of course, you don't want to overdo that. Think there's any way to bring other interesting relationships into the mix? That might be the key.
Then again, I write online for a living. Maybe I have no freakin idea what I'm talking about...

No room on DVR for this on Thursday nights. NBC.com for me, but I'll try to watch it very soon. I feel indifferent to the show. Not loving it or but hating it. Great cast, but I agree the show needs to be opened up more. I still think explaining who is filming the do***entary and maybe interacting with them would keep it from being similar to "The Office."
30 ROCK brought it last night as usual didn't it?! "Twist!" - Somebody please make that into a piece of flair on Facebook ASAP.
I thought 30 Rock was a little off its game last night actually... just me?
Alas, I have given up on Parks and Recreation. I don't exactly know why... just that something never gelled and I just didn't want to watch last weeks episode, and finally deleted it just now. I might catch up when i'm bored in the summer, but for now, I'm giving it a miss.
What about "The Office"? The whole Michael Scott Paper Company has really injected some great stuff into the show the past few weeks, I was sad to see it go so quickly, but was glad the fallout continued last night. I think everyone got some great stuff to do last night - we got Creed, Merideth (OMIGAWD!) and Toby all getting great sreentime this week. Plus Phyllis - wow, she finally popped for the first time in a long time - being protective of her clients, and schooling Michael on who really got hurt. Great episode.
"Don't fall in love with me, kid." Hahahahha. The best line of last night's Office for me. Though, if you didn't see The Reader, it probably wasn't AS funny.
As once can clearly see, this blog quickly forgot about P&R and right to the Office talk. This show is doomed!
LOL. We meandered, my fault getting Korbi talking about the whole Thursday night line-up on NBC. So how 'bout that "Earl?"
I have seen all four episodes of P&R, and I want to really like it, but the absolute thievery style of THE OFFICE bothers me.
For a living?
You are a paid blogger?
Clearly you DO know what you are doing. Most of us are pining away at a job that will likely be threatened within the next 6 months, so we have to work harder for less pay. You travel to the set where they create the shows - view them ahead of time (I ***ume) and then pontification for profit while we ponder on your periodic preferences.
Enjoy life.
p.s. Wasn't a Poehler fan going into the show, but I like the fake do***entary style so I'll keep watching - not that I'll get paid for saying so! lol ha ha jk ?
I think Parks & Recreation is just mean-spirited. It seems like the entire show is built around everyone making fun of this woman who's nothing but dedicated and hard-working. I'm not an Amy Poelher fan at all, but I like her character here, and I think the other characters are just a bunch of ****s.
