Nick Mitchell is my 'American Idol' tonight
We're barely a half hour into the "American Idol" finale, but as far as I'm concerned, the highlight of the program has come and gone.
What's better than a smart boy who can make you laugh? Well, maybe a smart boy who can make you laugh and knows how to dress, but you know, it's "Idol," I'll take what I can get...
And Nick Mitchell comes close, no?
I fully believed he had nothing planned for his acceptance speech and was about to feel bad when he said, hit it!, ripped off his clothes and showed Simon what a real sense of humor looks like.
Oh, and nice shout out Nick gave to his comedic idols, including Ms. Whoopi Goldberg who'll no doubt be hearing about Mr. Mitchell from Sherri and Elizabeth on tomorrow's "View"...
Good move, guy. Maybe they'll even have you on as a guest.
UPDATE: And now that I know Adam was robbed, Nick really is my American Idol tonight.
Sigh.
Kris is very cute, sure, but Adam KILLED every time he graced that stage. He was the true talent.
Ughhh, so ready for "So You Think You Can Dance"...

I have to agree .. Nick Mitchell / Norman Gentle stole the show! I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath.
Adam screams like Patty La Belle for me it works for her but not for him. America got it right and Kris will produce an album that will sell millions. Adam should go to Broadway.
Adam never disappointed. People who say he screams don't understand artistry.
It will work out better for Adam this way. Yes, he does NOT scream. He is hitting a range that it is extremely hard to do. I can understand people not liking it, but I can't stand when they say it's just screaming. Anyone can scream- what Adam does is true talent. And sorry, but I found Nick/Norman annoying. It was funny when he first did it, but now not so much.
America got it right. Do the math. Did you really think Cokey's votes would go to Adam? I like Adam as an entertainer once a year in a broadway traveling show. I would not want to hear him all day sounding like a woman on a radio (artistry or not). Kris voice is more "easy listening". I can see listening to him everyday while I'm driving or talking with friends. The judges were condescending in their remarks the night before as well as the MC. When talking to the parents " you should be proud of your son's accomplishments". Hollywood is so out of synch with everyday people who spend the money on these records or listen to the radio. Yes, Adam extremely entertaining like a movie star that makes two to three movies a year. I'll put my money down to go see him. Kris is a guy I wouldn't mind singing me to sleep every night. Kris shouldn't have said that "Adam" deserved it.
Don't diss the voters. Adam may have wanted it more and been hyped up to be the front runner, but the person who won is the one that "deserved it".
They'll both make money. I don't think Adam would have been happy being under the control of Simon Cowell any longer than the 1 year contract. I think Kris may emerge as a great writer making a lot of other stars and himself some good money.
Norman Gentle was hilarious. I can't get enough of him.
