Las Vegas headliner Danny Gans dies

Dannygans-290 Danny Gans, one of the biggest draws on the Las Vegas Strip, died early Friday at his home in Nevada. He was 52.

Henderson, Nev., police received a call about 3:45 a.m. from a woman at Gans' home saying a 52-year-old man was having breathing problems. Paramedics were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gans' show, which he moved from the Mirage to the new Encore Theater earlier this year, won him the "Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year" award for 11 straight years. He also acted in a handful of TV and movie projects, including playing Dean Martin in the 1992 CBS movie "Sinatra."

This is awful. Being a Las Vegas resident, I always got to hear how funny a guy he was, and how helped people in the community. I am shocked to hear this. Condolences to his family.

RIP Danny Gans

I am so saddened to hear about the loss of a great

husband, father and star.

I saw him at the Rio many years ago, and he was awsome.

My husband did work for him

via Chip who I know loved

him. We will always remember him I will be praying for his family, he is watching over them. Thank-You Danny for making us smile!!!!!

This I cannot believe. Such a young guy as well. What was the official cause of death? It sounded like asthma or a heart attack of some sorts.

PRESS STATEMENT FROM FELLOW LAS VEGAS IMPRESSIONIST:

Danny Gans was a fantastic performer and will be missed by me and millions of other fans. My heartfelt prayers go out to his family and friends who, along with his faith were the core of his life.

I can honestly say that If it were not for Danny's success, I would probably not be working today as a singing impressionist in Las Vegas(or in the corporate world). The first time I visited Las Vegas in 1996 to research the venues, the city and shows, I saw Danny Gans at the Stratosphere and was amazed by his variety of voices and his show.

As a fellow 'Singing' impressionist, I have always been glad to see the model of his one-man show go through the roof and while our material is quite different, my show's format is influenced by Danny's model of 'hit and run' using a large multitude of short musical segments and lots of song parodies packed into every show in order to get more voices in . Even though is truly an honor, I am upset by the cir***stance that would somehow suddenly make your mine be the longest running (albeit on a much smaller scale) impressionist show in Las Vegas (7 years).

As an Impressionist and Las Vegas entertainer, I can only hope to touch the surface of creating a legacy like his. In the meantime, like Danny, I'll just keep doing what I love. Especially for the reason I have survived 'terminal cancer', drowning, and kidney failure; I am shocked and deeply saddened by the untimely p***ing of Las Vegas' all-time top performers. I hope to meet him in heaven one day to say "Thank You Danny Gans, for bringing so much joy to so many people!"

RIP my friend.
All my best,
Larry G Jones

i would have thought that, besides his physically healthy habits, his sense of humor would have helped him live especially long
