VIDEO: 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' mom 'hesitant' to believe tabloids
"Jon & Kate Plus 8" mother Kate Gosselin appeared on the "Today" show Thursday morning to promote her book "Eight Little Faces" but also to address the tabloid attention that the family has been receiving in the aftermath of her husband Jon Gosselin being photographed with another woman outside a bar, followed by rumors of an affair.
"It's one of the things that comes with [having the show], the tabloid stuff," she tells Meredith Vieira. "And to be very honest, I'm very hesitant to believe any of it. It comes with the territory. We're dealing with it just like everybody else does.
"You have to remember: Take it with a grain of salt. Tabloids pay thousands of dollars for stories. The juicier the stories, the more they're paying."
Jon and the kids were originally scheduled to appear on the show, but instead Jon stayed home with the kids and offered a statement for Vieira to read on the air. In it, he once again reiterates his bad judgment, apologizes to his family and says his family is his "top priority."
Overall, Kate shies away from any specific allegations and says that she and Jon are "dealing with it privately" and that they must "weather the storm." She does, however, admit that the stories are hurtful.
"I tend to be very thick-skinned, we all know that," she acknowledges, "but it is very hurtful to see, for the sake of my children, through their eyes, seeing the things that are out there -- absolutely is not a bit enjoyable."

Jon & Kate Gosselin are on damage control and its all about the money! I totally feel that Jon did cheat on Kate because of the low self esteem he has suffered at her hands. He needs his own job outside the home, and she needs to stay home and take care of their 8 children. They are not the same two people as when they started the series. Kate has turned into a total diva and Jon is like an abused little puppy. Even their children seem unhappy lately, especially Cara & Matty. Like so many others, they should not have had all of those babies at once and expect everyone else to pay their hospital bills and rely on handouts. They don't speak to their close family and friends anymore who helped them immensely in the beginning and that is very telling. They are isolated and alone and it's very sad for all of them. They have paid the ultimate price of greed & celebrity.
Hurting her family? Really?
Perhaps she should have thought about NOT doing the interview this morning and INSTEAD going home to be with her family. She doesn't need to be out "promoting" her children again. She needs to get her butt back home and be a REAL mom to those kids instead of pretending like she is one.
I am sure the Nannies are tired by now. Jon indicated that they have been through 17 nannies. Healthy for the kids? The best interest of the kids to go through 17 nannies? Are you kidding me?
These people are out for one thing and one thing only...
FAME.
GET OFF TV and get back home and get back to what a REAL family life is all about.
I truly believe now, for the sake of the children, you should end your show. I do not believe Jon cheated. The tabloids don't really care if he did or didn't they will continue. You have always said when it's not fun anymore or if it would hurt the family, you would stop. Is this not hurt enough. The kids will be the one effected, they shouldn't learn about fidelity from strangers!

Well, maybe she should have aborted 4 or 5 kids so you wouldn't be offended. No matter what the two of them do, It will never make you happy. They didn't plan on having 8 kids but they're dealing with it the best they can. How do you think they can afford to have 8 kids. The tv show and books are their income. Maybe she should stay home and go on welfare. Oh wait! you would complain about that too.

Kate was a nurse & knew what she was getting into. Jon never wanted all those children; he was happy with the twins!...Another thing, she mentions she had "2" bestsellers, but the only problem with that is she is taking credit for her ex-best-friend Beth who was the author; look at Beth Carlson's website. Kate ended her friendship with her because Beth mentioned that she wrote the first book. There are many other parents of multiples who are doing just as well without all the handouts! She parents those children like a robot. I never saw parents of 8 children go on so many luxury vacations. That wedding in Hawaii was a total farce! Jon looked like he did not even want to be there, except when he was on the golf course. When you don't speak to your parents or family, there has to be something really wrong. They need to quit the show to save their marriage!
