Twitter'Jon & Kate' plus 10 million: Record ratings for premiere
The endless scrutiny of Jon and Kate Gosselin's marriage probably isn't doing their relationship any favors, but it was a huge boon for their TV show Monday night.
Nearly 10 million people watched the season premiere of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" on Monday -- smashing records for the show and the cable channel that airs it, TLC.
The premiere -- which aired after weeks of speculation that the parents of eight kids were on the verge of splitting -- drew 9.8 million viewers. That's more than double the show's previous high and an all-time record for TLC. The huge audience also set records for the cable channel in adults 18-34 (a 6.3 rating) and women 18-34 (9.1 rating).
"Jon & Kate" was also the most-watched show on all of TV Monday night, beating everything on the broadcast networks as well as all of its cable competition.
The show's previous high mark was 4.6 million people for the fourth-season finale in March.

I watched it hoping Kate would redeem herself....NO WAY. Watching the previous season episode prior to the premiere only reminded us of how arrogant Kate is. Arrogance runs through her veins...yes Kate you are a perfect example of the "Prodigal Son" NEED FOR GREED
I taped the show..but not because of the tabloid mess. I discovered the show over the summer while home sick. My thoughts prob don't matter, but I felt that Kate really was saying that thier show and her career were more important than her marriage. Its clear that Jon wants a more normal life. I also find it interesting that he clearly denied any wrong doing, while Kate seemed to "doubt" just by his reactions. Sad part is that the kids are the true stars of this show and they were all but ignored for the drama that is Kate. I heard Jon apologize for his mistakes, so I think Kate needs to do the same...and she did not.
More proof that we love to watch people at their lowest points.
wow, so they got a real hit on their hands. i just hope they know that it's for a trainwreck, and not because it's any kind of quality tv.

so sad for the kids....Mom should letgo of the tv show and focuson repairing her family. Her kids deserve that much.
i'm no fan of kate, but this is not new behavior, as she said last nite, they've married almost 10 yrs. i'm sure life has gotten more stressful, but if jon has cheated, he should be getting just as much scrutiny and blame as kate. it amazes me the number of people who blame kate for 'driving him to it'. separate, get a divorce, but do not blame your wife for making you cheat. if your children were all you cared about, you would have thought twice before doing what you did, perhaps you would have even been at home with them. again, there's plenty of blame to go around in this situation and just think there should be a little more condemnation for jon's actions
Hmmm....it's a very complicated world we live in, isn't it?!? First of all, I think Kate had the foresight to see there was no way to provide for the family unless something "major" was done financially (i.e. having a do***entary of their lives for money). Sadly, "life" has happened. It takes a village to raise a single child and here most of "us" are giving negative feedback--what are we "really doing" to help them? They are like every other family and need LOTS and lots of support. I just hope Jon and Kate can work things out and do what is best for their very beautiful babies! I haven't watched the show in a while, but used to be addicted to it! I'm going to DVR it just to help ratings! That is one small thing I can do to help! Love and hugs to the Gosselin's!
I guess that means it was a successful PR campaign.
