'Jon & Kate' may have violated labor laws
More problems for Jon and Kate... but this time the hubbub isn't about adults behaving badly.
The scandal-plagued reality series "Jon & Kate Plus 8" is under investigation by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor for possibly violating state child labor laws, according to the Associated Press.
The show follows Jon and Kate Gosselin as they raise a pair of twins and young sextuplets. Jon and Kate have made the news lately, he for stepping out with younger women and she on charges ranging from her own affair with a bodyguard to diva behavior on set.
TLC, which airs the show, told the AP it "fully complies" with Pennsylvania state laws and regulations.

Fantastic- take these idiots off the air. I can't understand why they were allowed to get away with such exploitation of their kids for so long in the first place.
Please get rid of these two jack***es once and for all! They're both guilty as sin!
Exploitation? Is it trendy to hate these people now? The vultures are starting to circle, who's exploiting who? I can't wait for OctoMom's reality show. Fingers crossed for 2012 debut.

While I think is it exploitative to put kids on a reality show, it has been on for five seasons - and now the state is looking into for possibly violating labor laws? A little slow on the uptake there, PA.
Well, they didn't start off doing 40 episodes per year, like they do now. The Gosselin greed has placed more and more demands on the kids over the years. I'm glad to see someone is looking into them.
"demands on the kids"? What demands on the kids? All they do is film the daily activities of the kids and parents as they do things/go places. I see the kids doing everyday chores (sometimes), mom and dad trying to keep peace and doing everyday activities with/for the kids. Yes, they have both made a lot of money and been able to do a lot and received a lot of free 'stuff' they wouldn' have if they hadn't had a show to 'promote' the 'free stuff' but that comes with any show (look at all the product placement in ANY program or movie you watch!). I just hope there is enough money for the future support of the kids and to pay for that (very expensive) beautiful new home and land.
I forgot to mention that you do have to give John and Kate 'kudos' for not allowng the filming of the kids at school and church. They insured there were some places and times that were private for the children! They also only filmed at relatives homes and public places...you have never seen the children when visiting friends. I think it is a shame that the double stress of the large family and the celebrity from the show have aparently taken their toll on the marriage and, unfortunately we, the public, are rejoicing in their misfortune. And it is a shame that we, the public, seem to rejoice in celebrity misforune no matter who or what it is.
I've been advocating that Social Services look into this mess for some time. But the Labor Department is a good start.
uhhhhh what are they doing wrong exactly that anybody else would do in their private life? From what i have seen and im not a fan of the show so ive only caught an episode or two. They arent making the kids slaves or anything. What are they makin them do chores OMGGGGG NOOOOOO kids doing chores like clean their room and maybe take out the trash noooo we just cant have that now can we. LAMEEEEEEEE
I've watched J&K+8 since the first show. I love them and think A)Jon is a loving, kind and dedicated father B)Kate is a loving mother (although she is rough around the edges, and can be snooty in her comments towards parents with "less then 8 kids" and her verbal abuse towards Jon and the way she smacks him but la dee dah, that's life.) I think that is just the way her personality is, and I think in time, she will become sweeter and learn to tolerate others a bit easier than she seems to. Over the years she has changed, but it's for the better, as she dresses nicer, does spray tans and gets her hair hi lited more often. I'm happy for her, I love to do those things also. They should move to So Cal as she would fit in with us girls here! I applaud Jon and Kate for doing the show. I love them and all the children. I'm happy they have earned their new beautiful huge home and I predict some of the children will go on to have their own Disney shows...And I predict Kate will go on to write more best seller books and I bet she have a few shows of her own on parenting and cooking. GOD BLESS JON AND KATE AND ALL 8 OF THE CHILDREN. I ADORE THEM ALL! And by the way, if not for the show, what would happen to them? They would be in a small place trying to live a descent life, without enough food, clothing, books, and none of the healthy and fun activities they are doing now on the show. LET'S ALL EMBRACE JON AND KATE FOR BEING THOUGHTFUL OF THEIR CHILDREN AND DOING THE SHOW. THEY ARE A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY.
