Is the "Gossip Girl" spin off already dead?
No!!!!!
Rumors are swirling round Hollywood that, though we'll meet 1980s Lily during next week's "Gossip Girl" episode, the spin off centering around the character (starring Brittany Snow) won't make The CW's fall schedule.
But why??
Apparently, the stuff we're going to see on Monday didn't turn out as hot as The CW had hoped.
But have you seen the photos? They're all bright and fun and, you know, 80s. Imagine the music. I mean...
Just fix it. Whatever's wrong with it, just fix it. I want to see this business on my TV in September.

I just read 'Lily' was dead on another site and immediately came over here to check (knew you'd know). Why are people suddenly saying it's not going to happen when the episode hasn't even aired yet? But remember, the Grey's epi's where 'Private Practice' began didn't fare at all well, but with some tweaking it became a watchable show the next fall. Right?
I hope to see it next fall too!
By CW standards, Gossip Girl has good ratings. I don't know clueless people insist on falsely saying the numbers are bad. Trying to make themselves sound knowledgeable and important by making stuff up? Pathetic.
I don't like Lily so I didn't want the spinoff, TBH. No great loss to me.
What's to fix? Out of all the people they could have chose to base a spin off on Lily was the worst choice. Her character has become increasingly disliked episode by episode and not many fans where excited about the spin off. Krysten Ritter was a bad casting choice, she is perhaps one of the worst actress ive ever seen. Her performance in Shopaholic was just...bad and from the sneak peaks we've had it doesn't look like she's improved. Brittany actually made a good lily from the looks of things but the character is the same as she is today and that's very unappealing to me,
There's room for a good 80's based TV show, Just not one that stars Lily Roades.
I like the concept of a different, more interesting time era, the '80s. The spinoff show, even as a midseason replacement when GG goes on hiatus, would be a welcome *change-up* from having too many modern-day similar girlie shows.
It's a shame if they don't pick up the spinoff. Melrose Place and Beautiful Life are locks I'm sure, but this should have made it to. Cmon CW, fix the show!
