'Fringe': Kirk Acevedo fired?

Kirkacevedo According to Facebook, "Fringe" has kicked Kirk Acevedo's Agent Charlie Francis to the curb.

Though the authenticity of the page has not yet been confirmed, Acevedo apparently made the following announcement this morning: "Well boys and girls they done did yer boy wrong! They fired me off Fringe and I've never been fired in my life!!!!"

Rumor has it, Acevedo was simply a victim of budget cuts on the show.

I've reached out to FOX for comment/confirmation and will update you as I know more, so keep checking back.

In the meantime, any strong feelings on this, one way or the other?

UPDATE: Insiders are saying, yep, it's true. The studio has no comment.

UPDATE #2: Though my buddy Damian Holbrook spoke to "Fringe" exec producer Jeff Pinkner who said Acevedo "was not fired," Acevedo's Facebook status update saying he was fired was indeed authentic. Also, the tweets of former "Fringe" co-producer and writer Brad Caleb Kane -- he said that he's hearing Acevedo was let go because they were having trouble serving so many characters -- seem to indicate Acevedo was axed. Whether he'll show up as a surprise guest star on an episode or two next year though, that's still TBD...

I like his character's relationship with Olivia, and I also like the fact that he represents the "normal" side of the FBI. If he is truly leaving, I will miss his character.

He was totally fine in his role. The problem is, his role was pretty much extraneous. Nothing distinguished it. Nothing made it particularly memorable or essential. This is probably more because of the writing, and the direction of the show, than anything else. His part never really turned into anything. It sucks when anyone is fired in this economy, but it would be like Dr. M'Benga complained about getting fired from Star Trek.

Who?

Exactly.

I don't doubt you, Korbi, because you usually have good scoops, but that sounds really false. I hope it is, anyway, because I like what Acevedo brings to the show.

But, if I were an executive producer and had to fire someone, it would be Astrid.

His role was downright useless.

Not false, if you're on the NY network on Facebook, you can see it. And maybe his character was usesless NOW, but they had time to expand it. Too bad.

Too bad. I think he is good. I remember him from Band of Brothers which I highly recommend.

Too bad. I liked how he represented more of the reality side. That there are people who really know or get all that stuff.

well he is a new yorker, probably doesn't want to move to Canada any ways

I know it's a paycheck, but that role was beneath him. I felt sorry for him like I felt sorry for Mark Valley on Boston Legal. It was such a waste. I just kept thinking, "You went from stuff like Oz to this cardboard cutout...."

That's too bad, I really liked his character. Not sure what the $$ difference would have been, but they could have let go of Astrid and I doubt we would have noticed.
