FOX births 'Past Life' for fall
FOX has added a third new series to its roster for the fall, giving the go-ahead for a drama called "Past Life."
The showbiz trades are reporting that the network gave the thumbs-up to producer Warner Bros. TV late Thursday. "Past Life" follows a team of investigators who work rather unconventionally -- delving into clients' previous lives to solve problems in this one.
The cast includes former "West Wing" star Richard Schiff, Kelli Giddish ("All My Children"), Ravi Patel ("Easy Money") and Nicholas Bishop. "Friday Night Lights" and "Everwood" veteran David Hudgins created the show.
"Past Life" joins two other shows, "Human Target" and "Sons of Tucson," on the FOX docket for next season. Since the network has "Glee" and "The Cleveland Show" on tap for fall as well, it's not likely to add much more new product to the mix for the first part of the season. The comedy "Brothers" does remain a contender, the trades say.
Meanwhile, FOX and its sibling 20th Century Fox TV are still negotiating a license fee for the fifth season of "Bones." A deal isn't final yet, but it's expected to be worked out in time for the network's upfront presentation on Monday.

One has to wonder why so many show are created or run by the people that brought us the unwatchable (and low-rated because it's unwatchable) Friday Night Lights.
You'd think people who worked on that show would put their work on that huge commercial disaster in really small print on their resume, but apparently, in the Bizarro world of network television, being in charge of a disastrous bomb is actually something to boast about...
The more "out there" shows the better. Why? Because there are more possibilities for Dollhouse to be paired up with :)
Sorry Rena, Maybe they should have more quality TV like Dancing with the Stars. Friday Night Lights is a wonderful show and its well written. If you don't like it fine. How about being adult and keeping your yap shut if all you have to say is bad things.
LOL @ Rena above. I don't know what FNL series you've been watching, but it doesn't sound like the same one the rest of us have been watching. Surprising that this huge "commercial disaster" has managed to get renewed for two more seasons - surely something must be working for that to happen.
Friday Night Lights.. football and soap opera. don't you need a helmet to watch it?
EEE, I agree. I had a similar response about FNL all typed and decided not to post.
With all the horrible, repetitive crap that's on tv right now, it's nice that there's at least one show with a lot of heart and has so much thought put into it by the actors, writers, and producers. The fact that so many of them are no getting additional work just proves that talent FNL has to offer.
AH, I don't see the soap opera. Grey's is a soap. OTH is a soap. Sure, FNL has it's soapy moments but it's one of the only shows that really focuses on small, meaningful moments to tell a story without dragging in (except for season two) useless overdramatics. Why is it that portraying true emotion in a meaningful way is soapy?
Friday Night Lights is one of the best shows to come along to network television in a long time.
I wonder what you would consider quality television.
I just want to agree with the pro FNL sentiments expressed above. FNL is the best show on TV in my opinion.
fnl is a great show, maybe your not just a lover of anything that is well written.
