Forestwhitaker_290 Dr. Henry Jekyll and his violent alter ego Edward Hyde are all the rage.

With Keanu Reeves attached to star in one modern remake of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson tale, "The Wire" co-star Forest Whitaker and rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson have signed on for a competing version.

The Whitaker/Jackson film, titled "Jekyll and Hyde," will also be set in modern times. We're assuming Fitty, notoriously shot nine times in his previous life as a drug dealer, will play the Hyde side of the character.

Then again, Whitaker showed his dark side in a number of projects including "The Last King of Scotland," so maybe we'll get to see Jackson stretch his acting chops as the repressed Dr. Jekyll.

The story follows Jekyll's attempts to rid himself of his dark side, which manifests as an alternate personality, Mr. Hyde.

Filming begins this summer.

Forest wasn't in The Wire...he was in The Shield.
