CBS recasts 'Three Rivers,' but not Alex O'Loughlin

Alexoloughlin_threerivers_290 Alex O'Loughlin fans won't have to revisit their "Moonlight" disappointment. His job on CBS' medical drama "Three Rivers" is safe, although Julia Ormond is saying good-bye.

Yup, it's the "recasting season," when the networks tweak the casts of the pilots they picked up, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Three Rivers" was the organ transplant drama told from three different points of view. Ormond was a lead, playing the head of surgery, on the show, but will be replaced. Also appearing in the pilot in a possible recurring role was Joaquim De Almeida, who won't be back.

Here's a breakdown of the stars who are out and the roles left vacant:

CBS

"NCIS: Los Angeles" - Louise Lombard, a lead role as an investigator
"Miami Trauma" - Richard Coyle, played a doctor
"The Good Wife" - Gillian Jacobs (left for NBC's "Community"), recurring role

ABC

"The Forgotten" - Rupert Penry-Jones, lead amateur detective; Reiko Aylesworth, lead as another sleuth

NBC

"100 Questions" - Amir Talai was the dating counselor Ravi, who inspires the protagonist in her search for love with his 100 questions for online dating

Who would you like to take over the roles? Are there any pilots you wish were recast?

Glad to see Louise Lombard gone from NCIS: Los Angeles. She was the weakest link in a still-somewhat shaky cast. Personally, I'd rather see somebody like Susanna Thompson take over. I could see her in charge of a group like NCIS, plus she did well on the parent show. If not a strong woman like her, then they should add a female member to the main cast, but bring in a male to head the group. Tom Skerritt is probably too old now to play a role like this, but somebody like him would be ideal.

Looks like the viewers weren't the only ones who thought Louise Lombard was awful in that NCIS spin-off. But they built up her character so much in terms of her history with Jethro, etc., I wonder if they plan to keep the character but just recast the actress?

I think it was a good move to remove Julia Ormond. I have to say that there is zero chemistry between Alex and Katherine Moennig should be recast also.

I'm curious to see who will be cast as the lead actess on NCIS:Las Angeles. Is there a certain type they're looking for? (I didn't have anything against Louise Lomard though.) As for Julia Ormond, maybe she can return to CSI:NY, they really don't have enough actesses on that series.

hm...i hope katherine moennig still in three rivers...it will b great to see her again, bside she is talented... sorry for Julia Ormond...

This show is very lucky to have Kate Moennig on their team. I hope it succeeds.

I think that was Claire Forlani from CSI NY not Julia Ormond. I still remember Julia from Legends of the Fall with Brad Pitt who was in Meet Joe Black with Claire Forlani.

I like Louise Lombard quite a bit, but I didn't like the backstory given for her character. Beside the fact that it was badly off in canon, it just was annoying. Oh, wouldn't it be wonderful to have Susanna Thompson back. Who would I like? Maybe Alicia Coleman? She's young enough to last a few years on the series, can do quirky or normal characters, and has a presence that would work as boss of such an unusual team of agents.

V. sad about Richard Coyle. Loved, loved, loved him on "Coupling". It would have been great to see him on US television!

Alex is an incredible actor i wish him well in his new role. Hopefully, if a romance is to happen with his character they will find an actress whereby his has a chemistry like he had with Sophia Myles. It was truly incredible.
