CBS backs 'Numb3rs' and comedies, hacks three dramas

Davidkrumholtz_numb3rs_290 As CBS approaches its upfront, the fate of a few more shows have been determined.

Returning to the network are Friday's math/crime procedural "Numb3rs" and a trio of comedies: "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Rules of Engagement" and "Gary Unmarried."

They join the previously announced "Cold Case," which was on the bubble with "Without a Trace," which unfortunately has not fared well. The latter series has been given the boot along with "The Unit" and scientific drama "Eleventh Hour."

Some new names include "Three Rivers," "Accidentally on Purpose," "The Good Wife" and the "NCIS" spinoff. CBS is also eying the NBC-canceled "Medium."

The fate of the remaining shows, including a full fall schedule will be announced Wednesday. Check Zap2it for details.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CBS PICK UP MEDIUM!!!!

Darn it. I really liked Eleventh Hour, actually better then The Mentalist. It was interesting, and you actually learned some cool scientific things. Plus, I think he was gorgeous. I prefer dark haired men to blondes.

Medium on CBS, it's pretty much in the bag!

Apparently 11 million viewers per showing on 11th hour was not good enough for CBS. I wonder how many networks would LOVE that rating.

CBS has shown consistently poor judgement regarding their shows. Jericho, anyone? Then the shows they replaced Jericho with pulled smaller and smaller audiences. Then they said they couldn't afford the overhead of both Cold Case and Without a Trace. Yet they could pay Ray Romano well over $1M per episode. I never watched his show, but am a huge fan of 11th Hour, Without a Trace, and The Unit. Last night's "season finale" of Without a Trace seemed to be a series finale. What a loss for those of us who prefer some intelligence and wit in their TV fare.

The Unit was such a good show. In a time of such poorly written shows, you had to actually listen to the words and ideas and think about what was said. I think this was a poor decision, but again this is the network that canceled Jericho, brought it back, and then purposely wrote it into a ditch.

Only on CBS could shows with 11 and 12 million viewers get canceled.

Where is Bones & Rules of Engagement at on the CBS schedule?

NBC is crazy for give Jay Leno 5 nights a week. He isn't funny enough for me to stay up till 11:30 and he isn't funny enough for me to watch him that many times a week while I'm up. Why they got rid of Medium is beyond me! The execs at NBC need to get a little smarter. In my opinion.

Too bad about "The Unit", it was one of the few shows where the boss wasn't a white guy. That only leaves "CSI". How does "Criminal Minds" keep making it?
