Anthony Hopkins to reprise Hannibal Lecter role
Break out the chianti: Word on the virtual street is that Anthony Hopkins has signed on to play serial killer Hannibal Lecter yet again.
That's all we know. Thomas Harris, who wrote the novels, doesn't have any Hannibal projects on the horizon, so we can't speculate on plot. Rumor is that Cate Blanchett will play Clarice Starling, last seen turning to the dark side in "Hannibal."
We also know "Hannibal" helmer Ridley Scott will direct.
"As far as we know, [this project] is alive," a Universal spokeswoman said in a statement. "Anthony Hopkins and Ridley Scott are both very committed. We like what we've got, and the revised script is really, really good."
Hopkins is currently working on Woody Allen's latest (as-yet untitled) film, though his co-star Nicole Kidman just exited.

Dear God in Heaven - NO! Thomas Harris should never write another Hannibal book ever again. He is a wonderful writer but wasted the best years of his creative life writing one character. And Tony Hopkins reprising - that's terrible idea. I don't know why - unless he's bored or needs the money (doubt if that's the reason). HANNIBAL was a terrible novel and script and poorly edited (*****-slap Scott, please, someone near him?!!) Ugh....
I've only seen Silence because I just can't picture anyone else as Clarice, but Jodie Foster.
I saw the new one, Hannibal Rising, and found it to be very entertaining. Not at all what I expected.

mmmmmmmmmm...... well, i love anthony hopkins and, of course, dr. Lecter! but i believe that this film is not a good idea! good things can't last forever!!! i know that SIR Hopkins never reeds this cind of commends on the internet, but i want to tell him that he has better thins to do than trying to help Thomas Harris earn money! he took an Oscar for his role, that's fine! he can earn thousands withought Lecter!

For those who are sceptical if the final chapter of hannibal, wait to be amazed. From all reports this will be one of the bestwritten concepts apparently with minimal input from Harris. Personal opinions aside jodie fosters portrayal of clarice was exceeding many expectations of her but to put her in the current role may seem to cheapen the movie. The casting directors did an excellent job casting Julie ann More for Hannibal, so they will again do a good job at casting for this film. For those who have not read the novels, READ THEM. You will then understand what an excellent job the directors and producers have done adapting the novels to the big screen. I await in anticipation to see the final product of what seemed an endless saga.
Hannibal 5 will do fine without foster like the 2nd one did but foster did a better job so f@$k anyone who don't want a hannibal 5
I hope that there is at least one more Hannibel movie, the one with Julienne Moore was a love story and needs to be continued or at least ended. Anthony Hopkins is excellant as a dark evil cannibal as well as a smart romantic classy , lover. Please bring him back.
