ABC renews 'Castle' for fall '09

Fillion_katic As executive producer Rob Bowman predicted during our interview earlier this week, ABC has picked up the Nathan Fillion drama "Castle" for a second season.

The official announcement won't come until the network's Tuesday Upfront presentation, but it's safe for fans to celebrate now.

My partying has started!!! WooHoo!!! Heart CASTLE! Heart Nathan Fillion (who FYI for anyone who doesn't know, is on twitter as @NathanFillion - yes it is confirmed to be him).

Korbi, this has nothing to do with Castle but I don't know where else to post this. I know you check back all the time so please tell you boss's that the new design of the site is aweful. The pages are overwhelming. They are cramming way too much info onto one page. They need to tone it down a bit. I liked it the way it was...

Excellent!

Maybe a few of the new shows will be good too...

Yea!! So glad it got renewed!! My heart is happy right now!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG!!!! SO FREAKIN' HAPPY!!!!

Thrilled to read this news! However, I'm worried about where ABC will put it in the fall - really wish it keeps its post DWTS timeslot, but that may not happen.

It has a decent following but the key will be where they place this show. ABC has holes to fill and my opinion would be to leave it at 9 PM CT on Mondays. Leno will get smoked.

Yet another poor decision by ABC.

Renewing shows that lose 50% of their lead-in is no way to run a network.

How is ABC going to find new hits if it keeps renewing shows that do at best mediocrely?

Rena,
So, what's the alternative? Offering up a 100% completely new slate of brand new dramas? Seems better to work with what they've already got that shows some promise instead of constantly throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Personally, I would've liked to have seen ABC give Peter Krause's "Dirty Sexy Money" some more time to draw an audience because that show was really well done, but now they've got Castle, another cop procedural show, and that's what the public likes, so may as well run with it instead of going back to the drawing board.
