TNT isn't buying any more of 'Trust Me'

Ericmccormack_trustme_240 TNT has let the ax fall on its freshman series "Trust Me," which failed to live up to the ratings standards of the cable channel's other originals.

The series, which starred Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh as friends and colleagues at a Chicago ad agency, has officially been canceled, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Its last episode aired earlier this week.

"Trust Me" premiered to 3.4 million viewers on Jan. 26. That's usually a pretty decent number for a cable series, but in this case "Trust Me" lost about half the audience from its lead-in, an original episode of "The Closer." The following week, the show dipped under 2 million viewers.

Given those ratings struggles -- and the fact that McCormack took a role in an ABC comedy pilot last month -- news of the cancellation comes as little surprise.

The cable channel's cupboard is hardly bare. Three new shows -- Ray Romano's dramedy "Men of a Certain Age," cop show "The Line" and medical drama "Time Heals" -- are scheduled to premiere later this year.

I knew this would happen..the guys are great actors, but nobody cares about advertising! unless its "Mad Men"...& that has a whole underdrama running thru the show, w/scary possibilities.

It wasn't a bad show, there were definitely some good and funny moments but hopefully it gets wrapped up nicely and not on a cliff-hanger.

I just found it to be very boring and uninteresting. I knew it wouldn't make it. Why United States of Tara is still hanging in there, it's beyond me as I also find it boring and unintersting.

I can only speak for myself and when I don't care to see a show that I've DVR'd even though I have nothing else to see, that's a bad sign.

Sad because I started to see it and wanted to like it and afterwards it almost felt like they were trying too much.

At the end of the day: I dunno and I'm a fan of both leads.

Hope they find better luck with some other vehicle.

I wanted to like this show, but it's hard to when one of the main characters (Sarah) is very irritating and it seems like the team never got a win with any of their clients.

McCormack Was "Will" all over again but straight this time. He needs to be able to do more than one type of character. I initially liked the series but it grew tiresome, then when it switched to Tuesday, I was over it

I liked McCormack and Monica Potter. . . but I really couldn't stand Cavanaugh.
I'll miss the show though. (Can't wait for MAD MEN III!)

I, too, really liked this show, good character portrayal, plausible storylines, interesting character conflict with various twists all the way through this past Tuesday's double-header which apparently was its finale. The good news ... alot of the yeomen cast have made good names for themselves and I'll look forward to seeing them turn up elsewhere.

I really enjoyed this show. It was smart and funny with well-drawn characters. I liked the way the show explored the relationships between the co-workers. Sarah & Conner, especially, had great chemistry.

Agreed. I tuned in wanting to like it. I like McCormack and Cavannaugh in Love Monkey really impressed me. But, this show rubbed me the wrong way from jump.

I deleted all epis from the DVR after the 2nd episode and promptly forgot about it. Unless a preview came on while I was watching another TNT show at which point I thought, "Oh, it's still on."

I think TNT should appropriate Kings.
